But don't call it a lounge.

Also change that section's name to something other than "Tulpae". You aren't respecting my freedom to pluralize it how I want.

On Tulpae. Off topic should be restricted to everything NOT tulpa I think.

Agreed. Think you can write up a little something for the post that would be stickied for that board? The typical locked "About this board" that includes how every user would only have one thread, etc.

But don't call it a lounge.

Yeah, I agree. I'm also open for names to call this board.

Alternate pluralizations (tulpas, tulpi, tulpa, etc) are recognized in the glossary and not condemned, but for consistency purposes, I want to use "Tulpae" or "Tulpæ" throughout this site. This is because that's what's most consistent with the majority of the guides, the FAQ, and the rest of the site.

Yeah, I agree. I'm also open for names to call this board.

For both of the responses you wrote above, read my replies earlier in the thread. "Personal Tulpa Creation" sounds okay, but I'm sure there can be a better name put together with the words "personal" and "tulpa".

I don't like that word. I don't want there to be some bias to that specific pluralization. Having it in the singular form would be preferred. "Tulpa Section" or "Tulpa Discussion" would work. I want people to come to their own conclusion as to what to pluralize tulpa as, like religion.

I split the topic and made it a poll, so others can comment and vote on this (since there was no use making a new topic).

If others agree that "Tulpae" should be changed to "Tulpa Section" or something, fair enough. I also like "Tulpae" because it's only one word, compared to the two word "Tulpa Section," or "Tulpa Discussion."

But the most common pluralisation is Tulpae. It's what 90% of people say, so it pretty much IS the official pluralisation. I'm sorry if you feel otherwise tulpatalk but that's just it. That also depends on whether we use the word "Tulpae" in the name of the board anyway.

I think the name should reflect on how it is your own personal thread on how you create your tulpa. Since almost everyone will have a thread there, I think it should reflect how it is each member's tulpa in each thread. So maybe something like "member tulpae" or "individual tulpae threads". The new section is about each individual tulpa, it's basically going to be a list of each member's tulpa.

his question gets asked a lot and I think it needs to be officially cleared up. There are four main reasons for the Latin plural: One, because tulpas, tulpi and what not sound kind of awkward. Two, because Tibetan words don't really correct suffixes for plurals, they more or less change the word in some cases. You still want people to know what you're talking about, so they don't think the words are two different things. Three, because on the Wikipedia page about tulpae sort of implies that thought forms are tangible, and by adding the Latin plural suffix we're sort of separating ourselves from that belief. Four, because Irish and I decided a couple months ago it sounded coolest.

1) Not true

2) Okay, but we don't need some weird "secret club" way to say it.

3) This one doesn't make sense. It's just that "secret club" mentality.

4) This is just opinion, and a bad one at that.

Also, no one knows how to pronounce it.

Most common, yes. 90%, no.

Also, the idea was for each thread in the personal section to be titled only with the username, nothing else.

As I have said, I want everyone to pronounce it as they please, but not for the forum to have things leaning in a certain way.

The idea, need I remind you, was my idea firstly, and it was never to just be your own name as the title. It can be, bya ll means, but the idea was an impersonal thread where you posted what you wanted in a sort of blog type way about tulpae. It isn't your mandatory blog which you must update every 2 days minimum and post every little detail.

Now that thread pluralisation poll was just what I was about to recommend. If you are having such a beef about what the plural was then I would have said to take a poll. It seems though that a majority or people (60% at time of writing) think it's Tulpae.

So logic dictates that it be called Tulpae. Of course people can call it what they want, but the unofficial official plural for this site seems to be Tulpae, according to a majority of the members here.

Just to clarify, Tulpatalk, you're talking about changing the name of this category, right? http://tulpa.info/forums/Forum-Tulpae

EDIT: I have to head off for awhile. If you guys can come up with a name for the new "lounge" type board and come up with a new category name for the Tulpa Discussions (if the poll results say there's a desire to change it), that would be great.

EDIT2: Hmm... What if we call the new board something like "Progress Report"? That's what I'm throwing out there.

Ok, so before I get hopelessly confused-

We need a name for the new blog/picture/everymemberget'stheirownthread board

and Tulpatalk, you want to change the name of the board it is going under?
