Client-less IRC

So long before I joined the site, I was into Halo. I stumbled upon one site that was a wikipedia style site. Something to note about it is the ability to join the IRC without a client:

http://www.halopedian.com/Special:WebChat

Thats the link. I don't know what it connects to or what it uses, but it could be a way to help new users by directing them to it instead of clogging up the forums. Granted, #tulpa is circlejerk heaven.

I am not sure what client is that, but it looks like the qwebirc web client. It connects to a normal IRC server, like #tulpa (#tulpa is not the server, its the room/channel)

Right now I'm leaching off LTT's webchat (Resources page); he's using some sort of Java client.

The client they're using indeed is qwebirc, and I think we'd be able to make the #tulpa thread default. I'd probably add it in if LTT's webchat ever goes offline.

Doesn't that webchat use python or something, though? I'm not sure how to set it up on my host. Anyone have a link to a javascript one?

Unless you guys mean to just hotlink off that wiki's, but theirs is set up for freenode.

I don't know about any of that, but what I do know is that whatever method they used to embed qchat works for me. I'm sure a similar situation can be rigged up with Rizon and #tulpa.

Did this on the rizon thing.

OH, that makes things easier! I'll just link to that page.

Why not embed it?

I just don't think it's worth making another page just for chatting (unless I embed directly on the resources page, which is something else I'd not really like to do).
