Deja vu and tulpas

Recommended Posts

I did a search and couldn't find any posts really asking this.

Some theories suggest that déjà vu is just the mind experiencing the same thing twice - kind of like a broken record that repeats a lyric then moves on. I was thinking that surely tulpas must, with full access to all our thoughts, be able to answer that question. They must know if it's two distinct memories that refer to the same event, or some sort of pre-cognition. As a man of science I doubt the latter, but it would be cool to know what any sentient tulpas can tell me about the subject.

It's just something I was wondering about and I can't ask my own yet.

The problem is that you can't predict when you are going to have a deja vu, so it's quite hard to research this (you must wait for it to happen, and your tulpa must be there). It would be interesting to see it tulpae can make you have one though.

I'm thinking about past ones as well as new ones. They have access to old memories, so for example a few weeks ago I had a flash of thought and could have sworn what I was seeing had already happened as though I'd seen it in a dream or something. An established tulpa with access to your memories could tell you if you were just having the same memory repeated.

I was also wondering if people who have fully sentient tulpae still get déjà vu because the ready access to the subconscious might somehow prevent the phenomenon from occurring.

What you're thinking of is Jamais vu, not Deja vu. It's an extremely common misconception to confuse the two. Although, from what I've learned, most cases of Jamais vu seem to be caused by FMS when experiencing a situation somewhat related to past events or in a dream. If you had a dream where you walked by a red Honda Brio, and then later while awake walked past a red Honda Civic in a somewhat similar environment, your brain would automatically draw a parallel between them and alter your memory of your dream so that it fits perfectly with what just happened. However I'm sure that doesn't account for all cases of Jamais vu, it explains most of them.

I suppose it'd still be an interesting experiment to try when my tulpa is fully sentient.

Deja vu is when you died and got sent back to your last checkpoint.

Actually, I remember reading somewhere that it might be caused by the brain screwing up the order of events so something you only did now feels like it happened before. I think this is a good theory. It would explain why I can't remember the actual event taking place, I just get the feeling that it happened before but no memories surface to back up the feeling.
