Documentary

Hey all. I am a burgeoning filmmaker and would love to document tulpamancers/forcers as a subculture and as a unique phenomenon. This will not be a derogatory film, but a lighthearted documentary, think "Trekkies."

Would it be possible for the people of this board to arrange a convention? If so, I could pay for part of it, and use the convention to interview people and their tulpae (through the person, obviously) and capture a clear and distinct view of this very interesting activity.

I am personally not a tulpaforcer, but have given it some thought of late.

Let me know what you all think.

I don't know if there are actually enough of us around to warrant a convention just yet, but the idea certainly intrigues me. I could just see a bunch of people walking around, seemingly staring into blank space...

I think it would be an awesome Idea, I would love to go to a convention, even though I probably wouldn't be able to make it.

Hello!

First of all, do you have any previous works and who are you? The majority on this forum will probably agree with a documentary, still there is a rather small number of people, who have a conscious Tulpa, not to begin with an imposed one. (As Hoppip stated)

The actual "convention" would consist of even less people, since Europeans are not included, and the American hosts have to find time first. (You'd end up with around 5 people, max)

Currently, we do not have any scientific records of this phenomenon and aren't even able to prove it is possible, not to mention how people react, when they see there are a bunch of guys who created their very own imaginary friends.

How do you want to realize this documentary? And especially - how do you want to keep it serious?

Then, we will able to play music which our tulpas have created and there will be artists being paid for making drawings of our tulpas, it will become a fandom where eveyone walks around and let their rulpas have conversations with each other while people begin to dress up as their tulpa.

The thought of a Tulpacon literally made me fell of my chair and burst out in a manic laughter, which actully did intruige me since this world needs more abnormal stuff.

But we need more people to get a fully sentient tulpa despite any circumstance at all.... And who would take this sorta thing serious by watching people telling something while implying that someone in their head is telling something, while being on camera, etc.

I must have ended up on the wrong planet. Everything here is so strange.

I (head of THEM! productions) currently only have short films and screenplays finished, but my mentor has produced/written/been involved in five well known documentaries including Nick Nolte: No Exit which has been airing on TV lately, and he will be involved. I have both investors and have previously had good success raising short money with kickstarter.

I understand that a convention would be a longshot, but it seemed a very good way to get live footage of a bunch of tulpaforcers for cheap. I cannot guarantee that the general reaction to tulpae will be positive, but the documentary would certainly not be exploitative. The format would consist of defining Tulpa, interviewing tulpaforcers and having an animator friend of mine superimpose the drawn descriptions of interviewed subject's tulpae so that the view can see for themselves what the subject sees, and generally just finding out how tulpa are made, why people do it, and what kind of person does it.

If a convention is out of the question, individual interviews may be conducted, but it will cost the company more. Everyone else at the company likes the notion of doing a Tulpa doc, partly because it is so intriguing and different from most docs, which focus on politics/food/environment, and partly because our previous project (which will go unnamed for now) became far too seedy and dangerous and we wound up earning the ire of some VERY dangerous people.
