Experiment Documentation

While this thread may be more or less off-topic, I feel that it belongs here in Research.

I am of the opinion that what we are doing here needs to be documented in some sense. Presumably, once more people finish tulpæ, there will be much more activity here on the research board -- enough to make browsing through threads and topics to find information rather tedious.

Therefore I propose that we make concise and informative records of experiments conducted here. I have taken the liberty of preparing a spreadsheet with the experiments that I know of. My suggestion is that whenever an experiment is performed that the procedure and results be added to this spreadsheet. The idea is that we get a sort of "quick reference" of experiments conducted. This would make seeing if an experiment has already been tried much easier than browsing through all topics ever made on Research, among other benefits.

I'd love to hear other suggestions. Perhaps you will sticky this, Pleeb.

This is a wonderful idea. The Research board seems to have become a bit more about the discussion of Tulpa phenomena than actual research. I feel that this might keep things organized.

Definitely support this idea. Keeping summaries of experiments and research in one place will definitely help when this board starts to get filled with research. Might I suggest also including links to the related research threads?

People seriously need to stop submitting unserious/troll entries... Also, is there any way to make it a bit more categorized? While all relevant information is provided it looks quite messy, maybe there's a better alternative to google docs?

Everyone here insists on Google Docs for some reason.

I blame it on COBOL Syndrom

"The use of a product which is of very poor quality without realizing there are far superior products of lesser popularity"

I made that up by the way.

EDIT: OH WOW I DIDN'T

Neckbeards think alike I suppose.

Strange. This, the tulpa list, the tulpa interview, and the entry form aren't on the resources page. Pleeb, if you read this, please make it so. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone tried recording their tulpa and then playing the recording back later to see if it recorded their voice? Let them sing a song and put it into your mp3 or something.

None of the actual experiments that are on there are "troll" experiments, just some of the comments. And they have now been removed.

If you could come up with some categories I'd be happy to add them. It just seems like there'd be far too many.

You might, that's a great idea. I'll add a column.

The reason COBOL and FORTRAN are still in use is because they are needed for difficult to replace legacy systems. An example that comes to mind is nuclear power plants, which still use FORTRAN for much of their systems because the potential risks of replacing a code base in that situation are too great.

If you have a solution that is as convenient, accessible and flexible as Google Docs I'd be happy to migrate to it.
