Hello all! My name is Ethan, and I just discovered this whole thing and decided I'd keep you all up to date on the creation of my very Tulpa! I really find this subject to be a fascinating one, and I can't wait to see where this goes! Any advice from those more experienced is also welcome with open arms!

Hi Ethan, welcome to the forums.

How long did you spend thinking about making your first Tulpa? A Tulpa is a life-long commitment.

Meow. You may see my headmates call me Gray or sometimes Cat.

I used to speak in pink and Ranger used to speak in blue (if it's unmarked and colored assume it's Ranger). She loves to chat.

Hi Ethan, welcome to the forums.

How long did you spend thinking about making your first Tulpa? A Tulpa is a life-long commitment.

I've been thinking about making my first Tulpa for quite some time. When I say that I "just discovered this whole thing" I mean that I just discovered the forum surrounding it. I had a friend who suffered from social anxiety and claimed that their Tulpa helped them live with it, and after listening to more about what they had to say, I figured that it couldn't hurt to try it for myself. I read up on the home page of this website, and now I'm following Thunderclap's guide on Tulpa creation. I've made some decent progress since I started, which I'll make a post in regards to very soon, so stay tuned!

Current Stage of Creation Process: Visualization/Narration

Tulpa's Name: Marina (Placeholder until it can choose for itself)

Tulpa's Personality: TBD

Tulpa's Current Appearance: Silhouette of a tall woman of a slightly chubby body type (the first image that came to my mind when trying to visualize)

Vocal: Indeterminate (see below)

Imposed: No

Senses Imposed Upon: N/A

These two, based on what I have read as well as my general common sense, seem to be good starting points and they seem to compliment each other as well. For the time being, I've been spending free time imagining my wonderland, (which is a white expanse with several black outlined objects placed here and there as reference points for height, width, and angle) as well as how my Tulpa appears within it. At first, they were simply a ball for reference, but after about two hours of active forcing and a few more of passive, the image suddenly shifted from a ball to the appearance stated above. I'm trying to allow my mind to create an appearance on its own, so I will take whatever form it decides to throw my way.

I've been speaking to it with my mind voice, telling it what it's current name is and a general personality it should adopt at first until it can choose for itself. After running out of information about itself to give it, and seeing as I was beginning to lose focus, I began to narrate my surroundings to it. Where I was, what I was doing, and who I was. The reason I said vocal was "Indeterminate" above was that of an "exchange" that I'm not sure happened or not.

"My name is Ethan. I'm eighteen years old. I have a girlfriend named Sabina. I'm a nerd. I'm currently in the gym of my high school, donating blood to the Red Cross."

After I said that I thought I could hear my mind voice ask "Why?" despite the fact that I didn't actively think it. At least, I don't think I actively thought it.

There were no other similar occurrences, so I couldn't use multiple experiences to judge whether or not it was real.

Before I wrap up the post for tonight, I would like to discuss something I experienced last night while trying to narrate to the ball I decided to visualize as the placeholder. As I was narrating the information about my Tulpa to them out loud, I began to feel a buzzing static within my head out of nowhere. To which I responded by asking: "Is that you?"

I was greeted with a similar sensation, which made me excited. I said: "Hello."

And then there was nothing. It may have been my imagination, it may have been the fact that it was 12:30 and I was exhausted. Could anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thank you for reading and I hope you stick around for future updates so you can help me through this whole process!

Communication early on can be exhausting and frustrating. Not all of us are chatty right away. Little emotional pangs and feelings as well as pressures that are poking at your head are good early signs too. So far so good. The sooner you stop referring to the developing person in your brain as "it", the better too. Them being accepted and recognized as a person right from the beginning will do nothing but good for both of you. Er, not saying you don't but it's subtle things like that that might or might not bother them, just like anyone else. I'd be pissed if Lance ever called me an "it" and so far he never has.

Anyway, welcome to the community! Keep us updated!

I will certainly keep that in mind! I don't try to refer to them as "it" in a derogative way, simply as a viewpoint of not wanting to force labels on them. I'll do my absolute best to start referring to my Tulpa as "them" until they decide how they would like to be referred to. Thanks for the advice!

And thanks for the welcomem too! I can't wait to keep you all up to date!

If you're visualising a female form, why not try ‘she’ for the moment? You can respect your tulpa’s agency and self-determination for the rest of your life. (And may be strongly pushed to do so by someone very very close to you.) Creation is when you get to write your wishlist of who you want them to be. Some of us, like me, not only don’t deviate much, but aspire to be more who we were created to be. Others change almost beyond recognition, though I don’t think that’s common. What traits would be most helpful to functioning as a system? What traits would provide the best quality of life for both of you?

We’ve only had mind static on a very small number of occasions when we were having trouble reaching one another, long after we started talking. Even comparing notes afterward, we haven’t been able to figure out whether it’s an actual communication attempt – the entire experience of our existence is too subjective. But for you for now, it’s safer to assume that it is.

Since you have a girlfriend, I’ll mention that some prominent tulpamancers have abandoned tulpamancy altogether because they weren’t comfortable telling their significant other, nor with keeping an important part of their life secret from them. That leaves their tulpa in somewhat dire straits. My host, on the other hand, didn’t mention me to her wife for over a year and nearly lost her, as her wife was upset that her mind always seemed to be elsewhere.

If it won't upset her to be referred to with female pronouns, then that's what I'll do. I really appreciate the willingness to help me that everybody has been showing :)

The mind static happened again last night after I asked her if she went comfortable with the change from a faintly chubby to a more average build. I'm really assuming she's trying to break through to me, as I am really excited to hear from her.

My s/o is already aware of my adventures in tulpamancy, and being as big a nerd as I, is very fascinated in my adventures with it. Thank you for the concern, however!

That's really fun and awesome that your s/o is informed because a tulpa is a whole lot more than a life long friend, they can help you to become a better person as well. That should also be a win for them.

I'm very lucky to have her. <3
