How To Sustain Concentration While Forcing

ThatOneGuy

Question

There are complaints lately about people not being able to hold their focus while forcing for very long. Their train of thought just sort of drifts away from forcing after some amount of time, or they get restless. What I've found helps with this is taking short breaks while forcing, and modify it to your limits.

For example, if you can't do much more than 30 minutes at a time, go for 30, take a 5 minute break (go walk around a bit, get a drink or some such), and then go back to forcing. If you can't do much more than a hour, then go for an hour and once again take a break, maybe about 10 minutes. I'm going on a sliding scale here of 30 minutes = 5 minutes of break time, maybe shorter or a bit longer depending on what feels comfortable to you.

It should also help with anyone that has ADD or just generally can't focus at all for long periods of time. While at this point I usually don't have a problem with keeping focused, I've found that it helps when I'm especially restless. Questions?

What if it takes me too long to attain a clear enough trance state where to visualize? If that takes 30-40 minutes, then I have to spend all that time each time I go at it and the time racks up, sometimes even more than actual forcing time. Each 5+ minute break means having to start all over, but taking no breaks is also hard because real life things keep intruding (having to drink some water or someone interrupts you or ...)

Like I said (and this is true for many things with forcing), just adjust it to suit you. If you feel that frequent five minute breaks will interrupt to much, take less frequent breaks after longer periods of forcing, all set so that it's the most comfortable for you.

I seem to work well with 30 minutes a night. Mostly because I get damn tired. I try to force myself to force an hour a night. starting with 30 minutes and then moving up to 45, 60, 90, whatever seems like a good idea - especially since I've never really concentrated like this before.

No! More tulpas I say! Increase tulpa production 200%! The world will drown in tulpas!

But really though, it's worth it if you like fun. Are you against fun?
