All I can say is I'm glad I'm not the only one.

That's a pretty common sort of issue, one that isn't just related to forcing. You'll find things like that and intrusive thoughts can be disruptive, and are more noticeable when you quiet your mind. We don't notice as much during day to day things because we are distracted by external sounds and etc. etc. etc....

I would suggest doing some personal forcing and meditation, use a specific thought or object to focus on to help quiet your mind. It's a problem that will get easier to deal with in time. It's also pretty personal I'd say and really will take some experimentation. I'm not sure how best to give advice really.

Dang. ive tried focusing on an object but i then end up saying it over and over then when i try and stop saying it i get the last sylablle endlessly going on in my head :(

I've literally just noticed that when waiting for a reply i accidently hold my breath but when i make myself breath and speak to my tulpa instead of having the droning sound of the word id just said i instead hear my breathing in my outer world as well as in my head (all of this is entirely unintentional)

Take a brief poem or phrase that you've memorized. (I was taught to use the Lord's Prayer, but anything works, if you can remember it.)

Recite it slowly and silently to yourself. You'll find that your mind often goes blank in between the words. This is easier the faster you recite it, so if you don't get thoughts between words at the pace you're going, try going slower, and stretching out those spaces between words for longer.

You can time yourself reciting it. Don't look at the time until after you're done or it will distract you.

If you can do this pretty easily and you want to go farther, look into anapana meditation.

Also just a noob question but when im talking to my tupla (Lucian Warden. has no traits but has a form (kind of more like he is a 3d shadow in my mind)) do i 'imagine or pretend' him talking back to me or do i wait till he replies (and yeah i view him as fully sentient

)

That is completely up to you. Some people go ahead and "parrot" the responses in the beginning, saying it will help the tulpa learn to do it on their own. Some others, however, wait until their tulpa responds on their own, saying that helps show more "real" progress. It's up to you and your styles and beliefs. If you want to work on his personality, I would recommend imagining him answering the way he would with the personality you have in mind. And if you don't care how his personality comes out, then wait until he's ready to answer

  • 2 years later...

If you have an intrusive thought imagine it as an article of clothing. Proceed to fold it and put it in a dresser drawer. (In your mind of course.) Lol then shut the drawer. This helps me a lot. Though sometimes I have to repeat this process to fully rid my self of the thought. I was thought this by a friend who practices meditation and has studied Buddhism. Also try meditation (normal meditation) count your breaths when doing so. Should help even more!
