...yeah, etiquette can be subjective. But then we agree it by consensus. What I said in my post was that if there was to be a discussion here, it would be about that. To at least come to some understanding of what's expected.

This isn't a bad idea at all. Bringing all the disparate view points to a good consensus would, however, be extremely challenging.

No, I'm advocating for rudeness when making a point directly. I'm not really for or against ostracism.

I think that sort of approach is destructive, as I have stated.

As far as enforcing etiquette, I suggested in my post that the best way was to make posts that meet those standards myself.

That makes total sense.

I tend to abstain from threads I don't like, and be rude in threads I think are wrong).

Ignoring thread you don't like is the best policy, in my opinion and allows many different types of people to write a lot of different things about tulpas. The discussion will be more broad and not hampered by rude disruptions.

Rudeness I disagree with.

But in the same breath, Jesus Christ stop whining about it. The human fucking tragedy if someone's rude to you. I already said why I'd rather people were more rude in general, so don't expect any sympathy from me.

Where was I whining? I just happen to think being rude sucks and makes the forum an unpleasant place to be. Rude people suck balls.

I wouldn't mind having it. This thread might not be the best place, but, I dunno, someone could start a thread.

I mean it more generally. You're talking about "ostracism" and "derailing". If you bring up perceived slights against you at every opportunity, that's kinda whining. But the point is broader than that, because I'm really telling you to not complain at all. That you're wrong that being rude sucks. And I already expounded why.

Probably another thread. It is a good idea. We have formal rules. But perhaps a community agreed on set of etiquette and protocol that more or less explains forum expectations could be helpful. I can see that becoming a morass of competing ideas and disagreement however.

We will have to agree to disagree, because rude people and mean people really do suck balls.

No, don't walk away. I don't want to disagree with you, I want one of us to be wrong. I've told you why I think what I think, and you haven't responded. You're allowed to not want to have a discussion for logistical reasons, but not just because. Not sauntering away asserting your correctness, but, oh, the other person, yes, we'll have to agree to disagree.

If I had to give you a criticism here, it would be this: don't pull this shit. Every time I bring you up on something, you refuse to discuss. You don't listen. Why? It's horrific. You don't want to listen to criticism, you don't want to respond to real, serious discussion. If you have to take something away, it's engage. Don't fake quit the forum to run away from discussion. Don't cheerily disengage by spouting "agree to disagree". Talk, discuss, argue, shout, it's better than ignoring.

You want me to agree that rudeness is a good and useful thing on this forum. There is no need for more discussion on that with me. I will never agree that it is a good thing to be rude to someone simply because you don't like their post. That is why we have moderators and admin. You simply ignore the posts you don't like and report problem posts to admin. Allow people to write what they want to write, especially in the lounge which is off topic.

If you want one of us to be wrong waffles, I say it is you. You are wrong that being rude is a good way to behave on a discussion forum. You are just flat wrong. Here is WHY. It is destructive and not helpful. People get angry and then useless, disruptive and malicious conflict erupts that is of no value to anyone. <-- You want my reasons, there they are!

Literally every single sentence in that post could be construed as misunderstood in some way. Look, I'm not asking you to agree with me, I'm asking for a discussion so that eventually we agree somewhere.

Not because of that at all. You've plucked that one out of thin air. Rude because you need to make a point, or need to get a response.

You simply ignore the posts you don't like and report problem posts to admin.

You divide the forum into posts that you do and don't like. I divide it into four: do/don't like x right/wrong. There should be discussion, not 'ignoring' posts that you don't like.

It is destructive and not helpful.

I told you exactly why it can be helpful. Simply asserting your views again isn't going to cut it here.

Uhh. Not sure we will make it but fine.

How is it helpful to be rude to make a point or get a response? You can make a point very effectively without being rude at all. Rudeness fosters anger and resentment and malicious conflict. The responses to rude statements are more than likely not going to be constructive in any way.

Let me clarify "posts you don't like." I mean more ignoring posts you don't find of value.

Why not? My views are valid. I have also backed them up. Rudeness fosters anger, anger fosters conflict which is destructive and NOT helpful in the long run.

And allow me to stop this endless banter.

To Jake/Yuki/Waffles side: Quit nagging Mistgod on their every flaw, send it in a PM, don't fill up a thread with it.

To Mistgod/Melian side: You don't have to agree with an argument, but at least acknowledge it. Don't just ignore something brought to your attention.
