I was looking at Twitter...

and I noticed some people bashing tulpamancers. It's somehow immoral to make tulpas because many people with alters went through trauma.

I just want to say, don't converse with them. It won't get any better. Go about your way. They can be close-minded if they want. They can't take your tulpa away from you, or affect the bond you share.

Some things that are said are that the (non) existence of tulpas makes it harder for people with "real issues" to get help for DID, and even people who have other disorders. Telling them that tulpas!=DID doesn't help. They will keep accusing the person of glamorizing DID and being a general foe to people with mental illness.

Telling them that some people with tulpas have illnesses themselves that include DID doesn't help either.

There's a weird logic that purposely seeking out a sentient being who lives in your head is disrespectful to people who struggle with personalities they didn't choose to develop. Who have no control over when they switch. Even people who hear voices in their heads that torment them. Since they suffer, enjoying something similar, yet not painful is disrespectful to them.

It's sort of like saying cutting yourself is disrespectful to victims of knife-wielding assailants, or that people who induce sleep paralysis voluntarily are being disrespectful to people who get it and are terrified of it. It's one of those things people say they aren't actually logical.

Remember: What you do with yourself concerns you. If it makes you happy and doesn't cause trouble, do it. Besides, interacting with them only fulfills their whole "attention seekers showing off their trash" thing. If you're not interacting with them, you're not doing that. :)

My lip hurts.

Not sure how it would go on Twitter with its small message length and forced ADD, but I've actually gotten a couple people like this to change their opinion at least a little on Tumblr. They see a few of the more ridiculous posts by attention-seeking tulpamancers and assume we're all either being special snowflakes or making shallow pony waifus.

Yeah. There is a lot of this sort of stuff between the different groups of plurals.

DID and DDNOS trauma-created multiples (the group you are talking about), non-DID/DDNOS trauma-created multiples, natural multiples (note, they can be DID/DDNOS or not), and tulpa-host systems often don't get along and step on each other's toes. The stuff you are talking about has also been laid at natural multiples since they generally find joy and happiness in their multiplicity and wouldn't give it up for the world. Sometimes is even laid at non-DID/DDNOS trauma-created multiples. Likewise, natural multiples have a tendency to tell, whether intentionally or on accident, DID and DDNOS trauma-created multiples that they should embrace their multiplicity which is often not well received. All three groups of multiples sometimes dismiss tulpas as not real or say making a tulpa is appropriation. Tulpa-host systems have a tendency to assume all multiples are disordered and mentally ill and tell DID/DDNOS systems that their members are just parts.

And people in all four of these groups, including tulpa-host systems, can be pretty adamant about their views and really hurt the other groups. I've seen it in the multiple community and I have seen it here in the tulpa community (whether it be this forum, the subreddit, or the IRC).

I say this as a non-DID (I would like to think non-DDNOS as well but there is some reason to argue otherwise) non-trauam-created (long drawn out trauma influenced, maybe, but not trauma created) multiple with tulpas.
