5 for Resources, counting schlondark. And one disapproval. 5/8 is approved.

RE: JD's Guide to Telling People About Your Tulpa
I have basically 4 friends who I can trust enough to tell about my tulpa. And one moved way out to Florida, so I can only talk through phone in the evenings, another only contacts me through Facebook, another, I rarely get to see because he doesn't get many opportunities to work at this group home, and the last is only here on weekends. So usually, the only people I have available to talk about my tulpa with would be people who would probably have me put in the looney bin, or on medication. Even my mom doesn't believe in tulpas, when I called her and told her about Twi, she got concerned as well. And I have an aunt who didn't laugh at the idea, but she said she could never deal with something like that, because just one of her being around is enough, and she doesn't get lonely anyway xD

Edit: Actually, make that 5 friends. The fifth friend is into buddhism, so although he never studied tulpas, he knows what a dreamscape is, so he's much more open to stuff like this.

Will list tulpas when I get things sorted out in my head.

I told two of my mates. One just gave a non-committal "Ok" and the other actually started making a Tulpa and he's a member! Not saying anyone is wrong, I agree you are actually right, but this is just what happened with me. Guess I got lucky

Yes, you got lucky. My girlfriend got furious with me when I told her. She's only with me now because for the last two years I've been doing all of this stuff in secret.

But the worst horror story is easily Hound's. His mother and his pastor convinced him that his tulpa was demonic, and told him to kill her -- which he did.

Is it ever really worth your friends and family and boss or school authorities thinking you're insane or possessed by demons? Rumors spread fast, and this is a rumor that has the potential to ruin your life. Be careful, and be absolutely sure that it's worth telling someone before you do.

That's a pretty scary story sushi. I've told my therapist, my best friend and a few of my online friends about my tulpas - responses have ranged from "this is unhealthy and stupid" to "I wish I had a tulpa too". Luckily for me my friends aren't the sort to spread rumors, and my therapist is bound by confidentiality.

UNLESS they decide it's for your own good, oor they think you're going to hurt someone else. It's an exemption that's always bothered me.

All the same, I approve of telling therapists. Unless they think your life or someone else's life is in danger, I don't think they're going to be telling anyone, and I think most therapists know that tulpas aren't harmful. Plus of course it helps when the therapist knows what's really going on in your life.
