ThunderClap January 4, 2014 Share January 4, 2014 As many of you may agree, using the forums on a mobile device can be very frustrating. Especially when it comes to posting. However, fear no more! As you may have already noticed, a mobile layout has been implemented for the forums and will be automatically triggered when you come onto the forums using a mobile device. Now you no longer need to worry about all of that pointless pinching, zooming, and frustrating text entry. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like: http://i.imgur.com/FxypDHE.png You can do everything on the mobile version that you can on the full site, such as replying to threads, updating your profile, and viewing/responding to private messages. List of things that do not work/may not work on the mobile site: - Avatar Changing - Quoting other posts - Signatures Additionally, whenever someone makes a post using the mobile layout, there will be a little picture above said post noting that it was posted using the mobile site. http://i.imgur.com/VzetV8d.png If you are on a mobile device and would like to switch back to the full site, you can do so at the bottom of the page. If that button does not work, you will need to check the box labeled “Request Desktop Site” or something similar if your browser supports that. http://i.imgur.com/hUEGvLz.png We hope that this makes browsing the forum on your mobiles devices a much more pleasant experience! On the subject of forum improvements, you can now filter guides by tags in the Guides forum. This will make finding the right guide under the right category much easier, especially for newer members. For more info, please refer to Pleeb's post: http://community.tulpa.info/thread-suggestion-for-guides-board?pid=91996#pid91996 Along with these forum changes, there has been an adjustment to user groups as well. Please refer to this post: http://community.tulpa.info/thread-moderator-reports?pid=92065#pid92065 One last thing, The games/arcade section has been re-added to the forums. You can now play a wide variety of games in your browser and submit your high scores to the leaderboards to rank yourself against other users. Additionally, you can see another user's high scores on their forum profile. Good luck! ---- Edit: I encourage anyone using the mobile layout to report what features do not work/are not included so they can be added to the list. Hopefully said bugs will be fixed at a later date. This is simply caused by the fact that the MyBB GoMobile theme is outdated. soapjackal January 13, 2014 Share January 13, 2014 The quoting and sigs are noticeably absent, but it's much better than no mobile site that's for sure. Hornets January 13, 2014 Share January 13, 2014 Page jumping is a little tedious. It doesn't tell you how many pages there are in a given thread.
omegaAnubis January 13, 2014 Share January 13, 2014 1. Lack of page jumping can make going to a specific page in a thread tedious as hell 2. Lack of signatures, which is honestly not that important...but i like signatures i was told to move this here, so i did love the mobile site other than the criticisms thank you kindly i am forever banned from drinking orange juice because my tulpa hates it with a burning passion
Asquerade January 13, 2014 Share January 13, 2014 The mobile skin isn't activating. How do I manually activate it? If I suddenly drop out of Chat, it means I was on my old and unreliable laptop. Was. PM me instead, because I can reply to PMs using my 3DS, but it can't use Chat. Progress Report
ThunderClap January 13, 2014 Author Share January 13, 2014 The mobile skin isn't activating. How do I manually activate it? If you are on an Android device, you need to check the box in the menu of your browser titled "Request Desktop Site" or something of the like. http://i.imgur.com/hUEGvLz.png The current browsers (that I know of) on Android that support this feature are: - Google Chrome - Mozilla Firefox (The one in the example picture) - CyanogenMod 11 Stock Browser I am not sure about the stock Android browser. The mobile site is also confirmed to work on Windows Mobile however there have been no reports of it working or not working on Safari or any other iOS browsers. The button at the bottom of the website has been buggy for me, so I would not rely too much on that working (on Android at least.) --- On a slightly related note, the newly reported bugs have been logged. Thank you for your help finding them and please continue to report any new ones. I guess you could still consider it a work-in-progress, so as I said, any help finding these errors is appreciated and encouraged. Pleeb February 5, 2014 Share February 5, 2014 We have a contact box now. It's in the Questions and Comments board as a subforum. It's mainly for guests, though members can use it too if they don't want to use Talk To Staff for some reason. It's accessible through the forums or by clicking "Contact Us" at the bottom of this site (as well as clicking the same on http://www.tulpa.info). Spoiler An image in a signature behind a hidden tag!
