Regarding the new Meta board

Some of you may have noticed that there is a new board, dedicated to Metaphysical stuff.  I'd like to address that board real quick.

As I'm sure you're aware, the description of tulpa.info is: Tulpa.Info is the leading resource for a psychological approach to the Tulpae Phenomenon.  This implies a purely psychological and scientific approach to tulpae, and I don't disagree with that.  However, this community was not built solely by people following this school of thought.  It's why you'll notice Cable's Metaphysical guide lying around, and it's why you'll see some discussion on psionics by ThatOneGuy.

I know that the majority came here with the understanding that our site does not follow metaphysical school of thought, and the bitter reaction to the members of that school of thought is becoming apparent all over the forums.

Simply put, topics like Astral Projection and Psychokinesis being talked about in the General Board can (and have) cause turbulence among members in this developing community, and have so far resulted in ridicule, flamewars, and off-topic discussions on both ends.  None of this helps us when we're trying to maintain professionalism, nor does it make first impressions seem well; remember, just about every topic in the Tulpae section is tweeted.

With that being said, it's been decided that the best thing to do, is to create a new board off the mainstream line for the members in the community that wish to discuss subjects in the metaphysical school of thought (though I would ask that these subjects are tulpa-related).

I ask that, as of today, metaphysical-related discussions are to be contained in the Metaphysical board.  I ask the moderators to move topics of a metaphysical nature to that board, and I ask the users to report topics of metaphysical nature so the moderators can see them.

I further ask that the members of this community remember to follow this rule:

  • In all cases you should respect the members of this community (i.e. treat them just like you want to be treated). Do not post offensive material, do not insult, do not harass, and so further.

"In all cases" means that respect should be shown in every case, regardless if someone has conflicting views.

In this case, I do not want the members that think the metaphysical discussion is ridiculous to go into that forum with the intent to insult, troll, or otherwise get a laugh from the members who consider themselves to be having serious discussions in that board.  I figured I wouldn't actually have to say this, but I'm already starting to see members come in to troll in that board; such topics and posts will be removed at the administration's discretion.

On the flip side, I don't want members of the metaphysical school of thought to begin populating topics outside their forum with metaphysical discussion.  They have this section because now they'll be able to discuss whatever it was they wanted to discuss without the remainder of the members disrupting the discussion.  This goes both ways, though, and while the members of the purely psychological school of thought will be expected not to disrupt metaphysical discussion, it's expected that members of the metaphysical school of thought do not disrupt discussions where their views aren't wanted.

In other words, "live and let live."  And please, let's show some respect for each other.

I'm not really happy about this either, but I suppose as long as it's kept to tulpa-related metaphysical topics it won't be so bad. General metaphysics though? No. That belongs on a different forum.

Astral project on my face, brother!

I'm not open-minded to magicians, TOG. It'd be like being open-minded to Christians; it just doesn't work.

ShyGuy, I'm so open-minded because I go off of personal experience rather than blindly following something. I also respect someone else's opinions when they're going off of personal experience (for example LucidAcid, he has had experiences contradictory to mine, therefore I respect them). Everyone else that is either blindly following/shooting things down needs to re-think how they look at things. Luckily most people are reasonable, but there are a few on both extremes that make things highly unpleasant for either side.

Fede: Fine. I'm not totally open-minded to mages and the like either, to be honest.

Damn good thing I'm not a mod. Not that I don't agree with you on some points, but for crying out loud.

Fede, if you don't like the metaphysical followers (not that I am one) wouldn't you be happy they got their own board so they don't make posts where they aren't wanted? I am interested in it, but purely out of curiosity, and something more to do with my tulpa.

Quoting is annoying on my phone so I couldn't be bothered

My opinions are all subject to change.

I'd rather they get their entirely own forum to rot in.
