Switching - who can do it?

I know this is probably impossible to track, but does anyone know the percentage of tulpa and hosts are capable of switching and/or possession (i believe there is a difference)? Not including those who don't want to.

Also, of those who cannot, what are some of the reasons why a pair would be unable to do it?

Thanks.

I hope there's a survey out there. Lusmore and I don't switch because blending happened once by accident early in the half-dream morning and it we just agreed to never do that again. We didn't usually, anyway, because...we just didn't. I personally would be very averse to the idea of even trying. It's like someone borrowing your favorite jacket when it's not even cold out. I just can't get in the mindset of, "oh, but he's me anyway, so..." Much as I love Lusmore, I've a couple of others who I would be more open to doing that with, because that just feels more compatible, but they don't want to or feel the need to ever, so it just never happens.

This thread made me realize that what I've been thinking is termed possession is actually switching. While Jamie is indeed capable of possession, it's switching that we do extremely frequently. I actually would be interested to know, amongst the percentage of hosts and tulpas that are capable of switching, how frequently do they do it? Jamie and I switch for at least a couple hours every single day.

Unfathomable. You know, without fathom.

According to the community poll, and I am paraphrasing here, no numbers on hand, there are about 200 hosts that report a 0 on switching, and about 20-40 on each number 1 to 10.

This is where 0 means not attempted to no success, and 10 is perfect capability to switch.

Switching is completely switching places, both mind and body. Tulpa's the one living your life more or less, utilizing the mind's thinking capabilities and experiencing the body's senses.

Possession is generally anything less than that. It's basically giving your tulpa control over any part, or all of, your body, while you still technically remain "in control". Most often possession is used for typing (possessing hands or arms). But experiences may vary. There are probably people who do "full-body possession" but are actually experiencing something closer to switching, and vice versa.

We're one of those 10's for switching. Never learned possession though, seemed like a waste of time and effort to us. If we want the body to do something we can just ask our host to do it. Switching's a lot more appealing, and we've been doing it for a long time though not quite as often as recently. As of the last few months, we tend to give Lucilyn some fraction of our host's free time to do the same sorts of things - play games, watch youtube videos, dance maybe. On the other hand I generally only switch if there's some kind of work to be done, usually college work. Why is a long story, the short of which is 'Our host has really bad motivation issues, and I don't'.

This is good info. It would be interesting to know how many have tried but not been successful, and what were the circumstances around it.

Any tips on how this is achieved? Is there a level a tupla and host must reach before they can achieve a 10 in switching? I worry that someone with limited visualization skills will be handicapped at this and many other tulpa-related activities, namely having a wonderland. I have quite a few things I would love to use switching for. As Tewi does, I would like Iselia to be able to step in for situations more her style, or if we get really good at swtiching, we could play some tabletop rpgs together.

Our visualization is actually rather poor, but that has little to do with switching. Although a symbolic visualization can help, blurriness is fine. It's more about feeling of presence anyways, same with imposition. Basically everything works fine for us except visualization itself, but we're used to it. Still have a wonderland we may use to interact every once in a while, but we don't 'live' there.

I wouldn't use the words "level" and "achieve a 10". This isn't some established scientific technique, it's a different and subjective experience for everyone. You can use the search feature to look for threads with "Switch" in the title, there's a lot. They're all full of subjective experiences that are totally different for every person. But, read through enough and perhaps you'll find one that sounds more right to you than the others. But in general they all involve some sort of symbolism for displacing the host from the body/mind, and the tulpa taking their place. We personally have energy-silhouettes we move into or out of the body to switch, each having a distinct color that matches one of us. At least that's how I'd describe it from an outside perspective, to us it just feels like moving our whole sense of presence into or out of the body. The energy-silhouette (sometimes switches between energy and actually looking like us) feels like me, similarly to how my imposed form in the world feels like me. I'm associated with it, at least. But anyways, I've never really been one to give "guides" to switching, because that implies there's right and wrong ways to do it. Of course, "Figure it out for yourself" isn't always helpful either, even if it's what I feel like saying.

For Jamie and I, switching was achieved before I even knew what it was, or knew what a tulpa was, or anything. I did not do anything to work towards it. I literally one day just came to the nameless realization that I felt I could let Jamie take control of my body and "drive the car", as I often think of it, if I allowed him to. I have always found it very easy to dissociate from my body and "leave" it somewhat, so once I had this realization, I simply let myself slide back out of my body and Jamie slid right up to take my place. I am sure this would be much less of a no-brainer for someone who has never detached themselves from their body before, but in my case, I was very sick as a kid and had a lot of medical procedures/traumatic experiences that I soon learned to dissociate during in order to spare myself the pain. So in essence, I've had 20+ years of practice in detaching from my body, and then Jamie is such an intense, powerful presence that he plowed right ahead and easily took over the empty body when the opportunity was given to him.

Haha yeah, as someone who has never been able to do it, I cant even fathom what it feels like to put my being outside of my body. At times i feel myself being lifted out but it never really goes anywhere. Maybe i'll try the silhouette idea.

Also the "level" and "achieve a 10" wasnt really to make it scientific, moreso to identify any prerequisites that could be there, for example, would a person who isnt yet able to impose able to switch etc.

Had an interesting experience last night, was wondering if anyone had any input on it.

As I said before, ive experienced an upwards tugging feeling like im being lifted out, but nothing ever happens. Last night, that feeling was increased at least 10-fold, a very intense pulling upwards. It honestly didnt feel like I was connected anymore. Then suddenly it felt like I rolled over and then the intense pulling felt like I was pulled downwards. The feeling lasted several minutes, and I told Iselia that she should try to take my place, but nothing happened. Im guessing she just didnt know what to do.

Based on this, were we close?
