How does this thread not exist.

I think it would be fair to say that if you can say that you have similar life philosophies to a character in a show, THATS A GOOD CHARACTER(S).

*I am not flaming you for not liking this show*

*I only would request you try the show (if you like) before making judgement on THE SHOW itself.*

*The fandom (well, facets of it) are still bad.*

You know what I don't like? Spike/Rarity. I mean, bear in mind that I never finished the third season, but from what I've seen, Spike is completely obsessed with Rarity, and would gladly give her things that he's spent months working on for himself, just because she's asked.

illustrated their relationship with the song Self Esteem. And it's pretty much a perfect fit.

My Little Pony is breaking up traditional gender roles. Yes, there are female teachers and cooks, but that's just because pretty much everyone is female. There are female scholars, female farmers, female athletes, female politicians -- the message is very much that girls can do anything boys can do. And it's a great message for a show that was originally targeted to little girls.

I don't mind Rarity. Yeah, she's representing the traditional female -- fashion and beauty. But that's ok. Fashion is an art, and Rarity is very much an artist. And it's saying that traditional girls are ok too. What's not cool is Spike/Rarity. The message behind that is that if a woman is pretty, she can crush a man's little soul and get whatever she wants from him. I don't feel that's the sort of message we should be giving our children.

Luckily they don't really dwell on that pairing that much. But I do agree with what you say about Rarity's character. She could have so easily been just a stereotypical vapid fashionista character who fanatically follows all the latest fashion trends or whatever. but instead, they make her the artistic character, actually being a businesspony who works in the fashion industry! And speaking as an aspiring career artist, I can attest to the sorts of things she's had to put up with on the show (Plagiarism, impossible clients who don't know what they want, ridiculous deadlines, vicious critics, etc.). That kinda stuff does happen in pretty much any creative industry, so if you wanna be a creative you need to know how to deal with them. She's my favourite pony for that reason.

Not a brony

Hated the show

Think baronies are very strange creatures

I watched the first episode and the dark one(twilight?) was the only one I could stand

Oh boy, not another one of these...

Hi. For clarity, I'll explain that I'm not a fan of the show, though I do consider it a good family show (I prefer anime). I'm puzzled by the hostility that seems to be held in some parts of the community for what seems to me to be a pretty good time filler when you are eating a meal. That said, I can see the appeal sufficiently that I've taken a form that would 'blend in' (or, so I thought, an apt disguise). And, in case you are wondering, I got the idea from Assassin's Creed.

My guess is that the significant number of tulpas based on MLP, and the relative youth or perceived immaturity thereof has left somewhat of a negative connotation for all the forms from MLP in the minds of some people. I should point out that articulate, educated and capable tulpas with origins of form or personality from MPL do exist - though they are perhaps not the most vocal nor the ones that are noticed.

So, I will urge tolerance. Please take this as fair notification that we wish to have members treated with equanimity.

I find that near every male role in the series is either eye candy for the females or comic relief. The only significant recurring male character other then Spike has almost no lines (yeah, I get it, strong/silent type). Equestria, is not a place you want to be if you are male. Honestly, there's affirmative portrayl and there's just reversing all the roles. Sorry, but it saddens me. If only for your own integrity, you shouldn't treat people that way.

Please consider supporting Tulpa.info.
