Any suggestions for someone with ADHD?

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting to create a tulpa for some time, but for the life of me I have a hard time maintaining focus due to my ADHD, and general stress of life. That being said, I have given it much thought and I do want to create a Tulpa.

The problem I am facing is that I can't get myself to focus on one for more than a few minutes before I eventually get distracted or it simply becomes increasingly difficult to focus on visualisation. Would anyone have any suggestions on ways to Improve visualisation and focus without medication? (Id be willing to try medication in the future for my needs, but for the time being I simply can't afford it.)

I have a lot of the same issues with focusing. The biggest problem is Visualizing just to visualize is boring. Try to make a story. Visualize all of the characters, how they move, what does the land scape look like, etc. You can also achieve this by visualizing the story of a book. There is another tricks and tips guide that talks about visualizing YouTube videos: https://community.tulpa.info/thread-visualization-guided-visualization-but-not-weird

Visualization can apply to anything, and you don't have to visualize your Tulpa to practice visualization.

Meow. You may see my headmates call me Gray or sometimes Cat.

I used to speak in pink and Ranger used to speak in blue (if it's unmarked and colored assume it's Ranger). She loves to chat.

I would suggest 2 things: very basic visualization/meditation and lucid dreaming.

Meditation and visualization are not the same thing (duh) but they do cross over. A google of the 2 term with give you lots of articles on that subset. Visualizing a religious symbol, a flame, chakras, a ball, etc.. is a lot easier to start than a tulpa for some people.

OK fine; a side note. Self hypnosis and breath control: get some! Learn basic mindfulness and breathing awareness. That preps you for the visualization of basic self hypnosis. The forums here might have guides in that regard. If not? Lots of links in google. Basically you lie down and work your way up starting at your feet, consciously relaxing part by part. Fully relaxed and you do a simple and short visualization of decent, counting down as you go from 1 to 10. (preceding is NOT how to; rather it is what to look for when you google.)

Lucid dreaming!! I know the forums here have tutorials as well as links to dedicated sites and forums. Dreaming will let you get started on wonderland building/exploring. Also possible you have already partially succeeded in birthing a tulpa but simply have communication issues. Lucid dreaming may let you connect/interact.

The combination means you are coming at it from both ends.

I’m not sure if you’re prescribed it, but if you are I’ve found Vyvance to be very effective in the past for getting over that kind of ADHD roadbump. Aside from that, an important thing is just basic meditation to sort of center yourself so your forcing doesn’t get thrown off track.

I’ve found running a loud fan in my room during forcing sessions to be particularly good at eliminating distractions.

Oh hey!  It's a name I recognize!  Hi!  XD

Anyways,  I have tons of trouble with focus as well,  but I do have a couple tips I can offer.  Not really related so much to visualization in particular, though it helped me a TON with fleshing out my tulpas' personalities, and keeping them active for long periods of time, which in turn made visualization less repetitive and boring.

So, a problem I've always had is that I can never think of things to talk about with my tulpas, so that always made forcing get boring quickly and more difficult to keep focus on.  But I've found that it's almost always easier for them to interact with others, and it tends to be much more interesting and easier to focus on too since you're not having to deal with the instant mind-share cutting conversations short before they even begin.  So find a chat or a MUD or something else along those lines, and make an account for your tulpa there.  Or if you've got a friend or two on Skype or Discord etc. who you trust enough to tell about your tulpa, then you can use them as well.

Sim games like Second Life work well too.  You'll be able to let your tulpa interact with other people, and you'll also have the perk of some added visuals, especially once you figure out how to fully customize your avatar and get them looking exactly as you envision them.  Being able to actually see them moving around can help to burn that image into your head and make it easier to visualize them again later without help from the computer screen.  (Just be aware that unless you have the skills to make your own avatar parts completely from scratch,  you'll likely be spending a little bit of money in Second Life.)
