Pony tulpa proportions

Recommended Posts

I know a good amount of you are from /mlp/, so hopefully you can help me out here. So anyway, in my quest to get the pony proportions absolutely correct (and to get a feel of scale) I calculated a number of dimensions and taped up a bunch of markers against a flat wall to visualize them. This is when it occurred to me: the head is freaking huge. I mean, I already knew it was large, but it didn't occur to me just how big it was.

For the people that already have pony tulpas, how did you deal with this issue? Did you scale down your entire tulpa to the point where it wasn't as noticeable, or did you just get used to it? Did you make any modifications to the proportions so they feel more "right"?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: For the record, this proportion/marker overlay is incredibly useful for visualization. Aside from that, I think I'm starting to see how important of a role the hair plays here. The overall size of the head is huge, but the effective face area that isn't covered by hair isn't unbearably large. Hmmmmmm, just some observations. Keeping thread open for now.

Well, the problem with ponies from mlp is that they are more a human-pony mix because of head proportions and arrangement of facial features.

But for me, the only modifications I did for vinyl was the hair. It's a bitch, and I keep focussing on it and not things like her cutie mark, her ears and her horn. But no, I want to keep her like the show portrays her.

Some things to help along the way: Bone Structure.

Another problem is that the anatomy changes depending on the angle. Compare a MLP pony between it's back-view, side-view, front-view, top-view, and bottom-view. Totally different, right?

This is one of the reasons I just discarded the pony idea. The visuals simply don't retain consistency, and consistency is important to me. Fuck me, for my tulpa is appearing as a pony at the moment.

Also, op, check out my guide on pony tulpas in general. Just search "pony tulpa" and look for a fuide by me (rustler706).

Perhaps these would help as well:

Drawing guide for proportions and structure

Pony body silhouette with skeleton overlay

*The positioning of the skeleton isn't technically accurate in terms of anatomy, but at least gives you an idea of what the skeleton might look like. I'd use the drawing guide more heavily because of that. I can give you a wall of text on what about it is wrong if anyone wants it.

From my experience, it's a lot easier to look up fan art since it does give you a lot more perception and thoughts/views to build on.

(I have too much Vinyl art)

I have a hard time even imagine how 2D will work once you can visualize your tulpa in "our" world.

I must have ended up on the wrong planet. Everything here is so strange.

I had the very same problem with the whole pony head size too and it creeped me the math out. but then I found this person on DA http://kp-shadowsquirrel.deviantart.com/gallery/24487513

Their pony models just look... right, if you know what I mean. Anyway the models can be good base for any sort of pony design.

For visualizing, I've found InuHoshi-to-DarkPen's art to be especially helpful, as well: http://inuhoshi-to-darkpen.deviantart.com/gallery/?catpath=/

He's got a good amount of images, which helps visualize a pony tulpa from several angles.

Started forcing somewhere around August 31st

Visualized, Wonderland, constant communication. Working on possession and improved visualization. No auditory hallucination yet.
