  1. The girl probably has Munchausen's Yeah, I guess you're right. I just got really excited that I finally found a real example of this.
  2. [Mephistopheles got into the cab and let out a big sigh. His forehead was covered in sweat and the collar of his shirt was the colour of piss. "What a day," he exclaimed. It seemed as if his new project would take the up the whole week. Again. Just 666.69 days until the next vacation. Maybe he would possess another nun, or showed up in some bloke's dreams. That's all he had the energy for these days. And who the hell had time to go posessing anymore?] Dude wut? emo demons? *wipes a tear* "No one understands me anymore!" *sobs* All jokes aside, if you wanna read about some demon shit, here you go: 1. The Key of Solomon (not actually written by him) - The Great Infernal Prince Stolas No shit, that's in the book. 2. The Satanic Bible (more about LAVeythan [read:atheistic] satanism) 3. Lemegeton or Lesser Key of Solomon (also not written by Solomon) They have presidents in hell according to this one. But just a warning, most of it is just really boring shit.
  3. I really want to start an intelligent discussion about this. Not that it hasn't been discussed before, but ... you know, the fucking Meta forum is what it is. So I want to share something with y'all. In my country there's this superstition, that if two windows are open on either side of the room, or one door and a window, there will emerge this air current. This air current will seriously fuck your shit up. I've heard people's reactions to this range from swollen cheeks, ear pain, general discomfort, coughing, head pain, all kinds of shit. But the thing is that it's not medically or even physically possible. A slight air current can't hurt you even if you're one foot tall and made of leaves. Now stay with me. This shitty story has a point. Now, everyone believes in this disease. I don't and it has never happened to me. But I've had people swear to me that lots of bad shit happened to them because of air currents. Sure, they might have mistaken another (real) disease for it. But what if it's real? I believe that if someone believes enough in anything, it will manifest itself. And this air current thing is some (kinda) proof. A mass induced thoughtform disease. And now we're getting into the really weird stuff. What if not all the stuff that's real now has always been real. What if some thousands of years ago, alcohol didn't get you drunk and then some guy went "This shit will definitely fuck you up if you drink enough of it". Or, wild pansies really did cure syphilis. And all kinds of weird shit happened because people believed in it. And that's why it's so hard to test if magick is real. Because no one believes it can be done anymore. And even if you really do, all you get are these vague, shallow results that might as well be a weird coincidence. And there's too many fucking coincidences. Which leads to a lot of interesting (loony) questions. What is real? And what does it mean for something not to be real? Is life a dream?
  4. Well, This for one. But in terms of medical knowledge I'm not so sure. The life span of an ancient (5000 BC - AD 600- what I mean when I say ancient) person was generally lower than that of someone living in medieval times. The whole city off Rome, for example, had lead poisoning from their pipes. When the Ancient Greeks conquered a city, they would execute all the males and babies. There was a shitload of cruelty even before Christianity. After they took over, the knowledge was still there, they didn't stop using modern medicine or anything else just on principle. If it was useful, people would use it. They just killed off all the knowledge that contradicted their beliefs, like the magic shit. But not as well as you might think. Gnosticism survived the inquisitions, most of the local gods simply became saints. So instead of merchants sacrificing to Mercury for a safe journey, they would pray to St. Francis. And a lot of pagan practices survived too. You wouldn't believe how many. It's called religious syncretism. I live in a country with a dominant Orthodox Christian population, which means that little was changed from the days of the schism. You wouldn't believe the weird shit that's done here. You've got the day of Ignat, when people literally sacrifice pigs (and obviously eat them), these women called bocitoare who are payed to cry at funerals, vantoase which are spirits that will kill you if you cross a hill at night, Zgrimitiesh, sanziene, valve, Samca, Mortolea, varcolac, valva, and all kinds of weird shit that Christianity didn't destroy. People blame Christianity for too much shit that happened. It's not like all the violence didn't take place in the ancient world. And it's not like it wouldn't have happened if there wasn't any religion. People don't need religion to kill other people, it's just a good reason. The Greeks killed Socrates btw. So when, Christianity took over, it incorporated a lot of the old stuff in it. Saturnalia became Christmas, killing a lamb and splashing its blood over a great feast became drinking the blood and body of christ from that little chalice (I don't know what that's called in English), Passover became Easter. So what I'm saying is that nothing was lost, it's useless to think of it that way. In History you gain something and you lose something. Little by little. We lost ancient thought and philosophy, we gained it again. We lost peace and we gained it again. We lost the Roman Empire and we gained it again, about three times (it would take me a wall of text to explain that one though). And now we've gained all this shit - technology, modern modern medicine, other stuff, but we've lost fucking happiness. No one believes in shit anymore. The reason why something like chaos magick exists is because no one can muster the least modicum of sincere faith that is needed for a miracle, a magick ritual, or anything else. Half of America is on antidepressants because happiness = belief. Not in anything spiritual if you don't want to. But anything. People can't for the life of them believe in anything anymore. Not god/s, not their government, not magic, not the president, not their parents. That's why forcing is so hard too btw. That's why in those documentaries, those whackos who see aliens every night are so happy. They finally found something to believe in with all their heart. That's why mirfacles don't happen anymore. People don't really believe in them. You know, just a thought.
  5. This is getting a better response than I thought it would. I probably need to mention that I'm kinda on the fence with the whole thing. Yes, I've read a lot of stuff. Yes, I've tried some shit and had results (mostly not the intended ones though). But I'm not entirely convinced still. It's the nature of magick, I guess that you can never have real objective proof of its reality. Like, Peter Carroll said "You will still have doubts even after you have turned into an eagle an soared trough the skies." But even if you don't believe in magick, I think the symbolism it embodies is a priceless tool for a tupper creator ^^. Also, I want to add two more books that are more entertaining than informative. 1. Anton LaVey - The Satanic Bible (if you want to see what magic is definitely not about. any useful information that might have been buried there has been well covered up anyway.) note: generally stay clear of books with religious agendas. 2. Alexandra David Neel - With Mystics and Magicians in Tibet (if you want to see how the term tulpa came into the english language. the passage about tulpas is not very long though, not more than 15 pages, but it describes very briefly how she created her own tulpa - by shutting herself in a completely darkened room for a few months.)
  6. Not trying to be captain obvious here, but didn't anyone consider this guy being a troll? No one? Sumerian god my butt, get outta here.
  7. So , I've noticed that most of the posts in this section are loads of bullshit. Just a few examples: Response: As much as I value the entertainment value of this forum section, (it's fucking comical gold if you read enough) I would really recommend people to do some research before posting. If only because it gives people who take this stuff even marginally seriously, a bad name. In the interest of deterring stupidity, I've made a short list of things that are good to know about magick, personally, I'd make this required reading in order to post on here: 1. The Cusp's Explanation of General Magical Principles (This is the best and most concise explanation I have ever read): Link 2. Aleister Crowley's Liber ABA (For everything from meditation to highly ritualized magic, probably the best and most complete book on the suvject) Link 3. Peter J. Carroll's Liber Null, Intro to Chaos Magick (Audio) 4. Wikipedia on Magic (Yes, read the whole damn thing) Link Even more stuff for people who are really interested (These mainly have to do with chaos magick: Liber Null & Psychonaut - Peter J Carrol Condensed Choas - Phil Hines Book Of Results - Ray Sherwin About the psychological principles behind magick: Prometheus Rising - Roger Anton Wilson The Psychopath's Bible - Christopher Hyatt Undoing Yourself - Christopher Hyatt To Lie is Human - Christopher Hyatt Book Of Results - Ray Sherwin
  8. Well sure, if you're into that sort of thing. But what I'm suggesting isn't really actual magic (I'm staying safely away from the metaphysics forum). But in fact, finding some common symbolism that we can all use. And to answer you question Shui, I'm thinking that, we should have a list of symbolism-related stuff that people could pick out of and use. Like people with low visualization skills tend to have some sort of weird method of entering wonderland. I'm sure someone less sleep deprived than me can judge weather or not this would be any improvement to everyone making their own symbolism stuff.
  9. It's been about three months. Do you have anything to report?
  10. I don't know if this is the place is the one to post for this since, apart from the drug threads, no one cares about the research forum. I got this idea while reading trough the guides. A lot of people seem to come up with some kind of symbolism that works really well for them on whatever they're working on. They come on here and write a guide about their awesome new symbolism technique. But mostly these seem to be very individual, so they don't work on other people. Now, bare with me on this. In the lucid dreaming community there are a lot of really weird myths like you can't switch a light on in a dream, you can't read anything, if you look in a mirror your image will get deformed, etc ... These have become archetypes. People believe in these things and they happen to them because in a dream all that matters is your perception. And these archetypes are sort of useful as well. Some people get lucid from realizing they can't flip the light on. So what I'm thinking is, why shouldn't we have stuff like that as well. This is a bit weird but bare with me, what if we made up a system of symbolism-based techniques or picked the most common ones and developed a system. I guarantee this works well with dreams. It would be the tupper magic, unlike with the lucid dreaming we would create this system consciously. I'm not sure how good of an idea this is, but here it is.
  11. I pretty much agree with all you said.
  12. That's a rather interesting idea. And so the tulpamancers gain another one in their ranks.
  13. Thanks for the book Shui. I don't really have much experience since I haven't made a tulpa yet, but I have lurked extensively. I tried making one once but sort of lost confidence at some point due to making it for the wrong reasons. Anyway, so what you're saying is that all you need for auditory imposition is a lot of narration? I'm a bit confused. All I'm saying is that there's a great discrepancy between the guides on this and the guides on everything else, of which there are a lot. Even for things like visualization which everyone does on a regular basis and is a pretty obvious concept. I think it'd be sort of nice to have a guide on hearing your tulpa, especially for people who might not get as far as sight imposition.
  14. Yeah, about that. It's not really going that well. A tulpa should be an interesting and complex individual. Doing this, I realise that all the characters in my stories are sort of bland. It's not the method that's the problem. I think it's my imagination because I can't seem to think of an interesting enough character for this.
  15. I must confess. I do not have a tulpa either. Though I haven't really claimed to have one before either.
