A Human Scent Issue

I've been told it's acceptable to visualize your tulpa as someone you have minimal preconcieved notions about and will probably never have a relationship with. I'm choosing to make my tulpa a 3D rendering, but I want her to "smell" and "feel" human. Here's the issue; people have very distinct smells. So far, when I become close enough to someone to have unrestricted access to their scent, I have a pretty deep relationship with them. That just won't do. Do I need to sniff a stranger?

Um... make something up? While humans do have very distinct smells, they can mask those smells with perfume, cologne, etc. Simply imagine that your tulpa is wearing some kind of perfume/cologne that you think smells pleasant.

My tulpa

Name: Tammy

Sex: female

Species: Anthro (red fox)

Working on: imposition

If you live at home, smell the worn clothes of your siblings or parents. even without perfume and cologne you should notice that their scents are very different.

I said in my post that I would prefer if it smelled like a living person.

I tried to imply in my post that this would have the same effect (if not greater) as modeling their appearance after a person I know too well.

Go to Japan/China/Taiwan and buy used pantsu from a vending machine.

Then you don't even have to worry about pairing the smell to an actual human.

I'm not serious. Don't actually do that. That's Fucked-up!

I should have written more. I meant for you to try it so you can have a base perception of a human scent. your family's clothes are readily available. i'm not telling you to make your tulpa smell like that, just too smell the clothes to get an idea of what to aim for. it's what i do for taste, except with food...not family members.

Another thing to think on... People tend to soak up scents they spend a lot of time around, to the point where it mixes into their natural smell. A carpenter smelling like wood shavings, a baker like bread and cinnamon, a gardener like roses, so on and so forth. I've been told I smell like incense, even when it's been weeks since I'd burned any. You could try basing their "real" scent off of an "absorbed" one.

Creep

Go up to someone and ask them "Sir? Can I smell you for a little bit?"

If they ask why, just say it's for a survey. Or if you want to be really bold, say it's for your tulpa.

But if you do that, make sure you have the chloroform ready so they don't run too far.

Seriously though, if you want her to smell like a human than don't even think about it. The smell of humans is something you're CONSTANTLY surrounded by, so it's not like you need a reference. And quite frankly unless you have an incredibly keen sense of smell, you're not gonna notice any in particular smells. Just don't worry about it and let it develop on it's own. More likely than not the smell you're looking for will develop as your tulpa develops... as well as your ability to perceive them develops.
