Blurring the Lines Between Daemon and Tulpa

Hey there, Tulpa community :) I'm Fluff, and originally, I didn't come here to create a tulpa at all. That might sound a bit strange, a person sauntering in to become a member of a community when they don't even intend to participate in what the community is based on :P However, I do have a reason for being here, and it's not to be a troll XD. As you might be able to tell from the title, I have a daemon rather than a tulpa. You may or may not know what that is, but I'll give anyone who happens to read this a brief run-down. A daemon is a mental construct that is pretty similar to a tulpa in a lot of ways. However, a daemon isn't considered sentient, and is more or less seen as a compartmentalized part of your own brain. Their form is also always an animal which represents your personality. There's a lot more to it, but those are the basics. Pay the Daemon Forum a visit if you would like to learn more :3 In short, I'm trying to merge these two philosophies on mental constructs and to learn a lot in the process. I think it's good to broaden your horizons every once in a while, so your ideas don't become stagnant, which is also something I'm trying to achieve. Oh, and I would like to have some fun doing it, too :)

So, let's get to the less wordy stuff :D My own daemon is a spitz dog of an undetermined breed, but he looks more or less like a samoyed with a few brown spots here and there. I've had/known him for about 3 and a half years. His name is Aressian, but he prefers Ares (which has a lot to do with the association with the Greek god of War XD). He's a very serious, down to earth sort of dog, but his guidance is exactly what I need in day to day life. [Hello]. He can also be a bit snarky at times, and he's loved cheezits for as long as I can remember XD I mentioned that daemons aren't considered sentient, and that's the whole reason I'm here! I want to 'tulpasize' Ares in order to make him more present, while still retaining some of the daemon ideals. He wasn't too thrilled by the idea, but he's warmed up to it by now.

And guess what? We've had enormous success! I've implemented some of your tulpamancing techniques on Ares, and he's shown a lot of improvement in just about everything. We started off with visualization, with me doing the counting to 100 on a canvas and the rubik's cube exercise, and his form is a lot more consistent now. He enjoys being a little more solid :) We also did some of the symbolic exercises most people do when the first starting a tulpa, like giving him jars of different colored liquids that represent traits etc, which has established his already strong personality even further. And I've generally been talking to him a lot more, and including him in all aspects of my life, which he greatly appreciates. It's made us a lot closer, and I even gave him a hug (out very first!) the other day in the headspace. Before this, we had a pretty stoic relationship without a lot of touching, and I'm glad that's starting to change. I'm really happy to have found this place.

And that brings us to my next... announcement, I guess XD After some deliberation, I've decided to go ahead and create a tulpa for real. I had to persuade Ares quite a bit, as he was very skeptical of the whole idea, but he's come around now, and he might even be looking forward to the new addition. After all, he's been the only thing in the headspace for awhile, and the company could do him some good and let him relax (at least that's my hope :D) He's just so serious. We're calling her Nix for now, and she's a sort of eastern dragon/caracal mix. So far, I've just been planning her personality and doing some basic visualization. I'll post more about her later, as this post is a borderline novel XD Thanks and cookies go to anyone who bothers to read this wall of text haha.

Currently the only one occupying my headspace is my fluffy dog daemon Aressian, but we're working on a new addition :3

Yay, I get cookies!

I've been reading about tulpas for about ten years now, but I haven't heard about daemons until relatively recently. (I mean I know different meanings of the word, and I know the books, but I didn't know people were actually doing this.) Are there any aspects of daemons that you think would benefit tulpas? Are you planning on Nix having any daemon traits?

*hands an Internet cookie* Thanks for reading my progress report, Shui, it means a lot :) To answer your questions, I think it's mostly the host that benefits from having a daemon, honestly. However, the soul searching aspect is immensely rewarding for both you and your daemon, and when you find that settled form, it's pretty great. I also think there's a 'completeness' about having a daemon, that you maybe don't experience from having a tulpa (but I guess I'll find out :D) As for Nix, I plan on having her as wholly a tulpa, as I already have a daemon and having two is just redundant. I also want to experience a true tulpa rather than a daemon-made-tulpa to see the differences between the two.

This is pretty interesting, I honestly haven't yet learned about thought-forms other than tulpae! A daemon sounds like a very interesting way to learn about yourself. I'd like to wish you luck, and I imagine your daemon would be of immense help towards creating Nix.

I'm very new to all this myself though, more than you from the sound of it, my own tulpa is far from mature :)

Thank you so much for reading :3 I'm really interested in all kinds of things that have to do with the brain, so I tend to come across things like daemons and tulpas in my Internet travels :P I also want to thank you for being so openminded, a lot of people brush off the idea of a daemon in favor of a tulpa or vice versa. I really do hope that Ares will be helpful in the tulpa creating process, at the very least because I've been dealing with some kind of mental construct for several years now. And don't worry about your own progress, it seems you're doing great with Elise. I hope I can make that kind of headway once I really start to work on Nix :D

Hey Fluff! Nice seeing you on the forums!

I'm glad Ares is progressing so fast. Good luck with Nix! We're all cheering you on! :)

Well, I've been reading through the daemon page. It's interesting, but I'm still undecided as to whether I want to get into it. I'll have to talk this over with my tulpa.

Well, your indecision is understandable. There are several things the two communities don't see eye to eye on, but I think both have some good ideas. The daemon forum even has a thread specifically about tulpas and tumlpamancing (thus how I got here) and at first I was seriously skeptical and pretty judgmental, but clearly I came around 🙂

Oh, and thanks for the kind words, Anon 😄 It means a lot that you're even reading this :3

My tulpa and I talked about it. The idea is appealing, but we agree that I should be focusing on imposing her and finishing my servitor before I take on any more projects. I'll be interested in seeing how things go for you though.
