Censoring/repressing memories

I've heard of people repressing disturbing memories subconsciously, and know a few who've done it. However it happens so automatically that they can't really describe how it's done, or retrieve the memories later, at least without professional help. One person I know who does it describes the result as like a spot around a specific topic that sorta repels thought coming near it. This all makes me wonder if something of the sort can be done consciously or by a tulpa, and if similar means can reverse it.

The experiment: Choose a minor memory, perhaps a trivial fact or a song, something you wouldn't mind losing. Have your tulpa try to block your access to the memory, perhaps by building a barrier around it or something. It can almost certainly be done without a tulpa as well. Then see if you can recall whatever it was. If it's a song, what happens if you listen to it again? Repeat some time later, perhaps a few days.

Part two, if successful at the above: Try to reverse it, and see if it's fully back.

(I plan to try the tulpa form of this once she's fully vocal and has a little experience in my subconscious. I'm not sure how to go about it without tulpa assistance though. Perhaps if someone has an idea.)

I'd guess so too. That information is stored in the subconscious, and if the tulpa has access to the subconscious (and, if certain experiments are to be believed, they seem to) I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Note that I'm also quite interested in the other half of it -- repressing the memory in the first place.

A Tulpa can show you memories in your dreams. Alyx has shown me one a few days ago, but it didn't consist of any visual or auditive components, mainly of feelings.

It's very hard to explain. If you have a Tulpa, who has access to your unconscious and is able to talk, you should ask it to interrupt your dream, and replay the memory instead.

Actually, I was planning to use that as my test case, as it's something I truly wouldn't mind losing. However, I suspect that repressing memories, at least en masse, will have some bad side effects and is probably not wise to use on something as simple as an annoying song that gets stuck in your head. Primarily I want to know how an artificially repressed memory feels, how it feels when I try to recall it or "think near" it, and how it compares to how people describe normal repressed memories. I'd also be interested in whether there's a reasonably straightforward way to undo it without therapy or using a tulpa.

(Offtopic aside: Some time ago I was unsuccessfully trying to give myself an earworm so I could observe it, because I've always just concentrated on getting rid of them instead. After failing to get more pleasant ones, I resorted to Friday, since the mere thought of it usually gets it stuck in my head. Still no earworm, probably because I was trying to get one. I even tried putting it on repeat while in a trance and while trying to fall asleep -- I was honestly worried what this might do. Ultimately I gave up when I found myself almost starting to like it. Since then, I've had a few unintentional earworms, though clearing my mind mostly stopped them. But I now appear to be immune to Friday. Next time I get a really bad one, I think I'll try this on it.)
