Could double-posting be allowed in forum games?

It might be useful in certain forum games to allow people to post twice, but right now that's definitely against the rules:

  • No double-posting. This means making two consecutive posts within a short time frame. Edit the previous post if nobody has responded since it was made.

Could this rule be relaxed or replaced? Pretty please?

Adding it to forum games can be dicey. For example, this thread is an example of why the double posting rule shouldn't be relaxed- it's just a clone of LOTPW that is prone to spam.

Editing one's post is really only an issue when it comes to the spirit of the game, where relaxing the double post rule leads to the danger of spam. While the former is annoying, the latter is a much more serious issue because it can lead to an access of notifications and inflate a thread's length artificially.

For JJJJJ, it may be better to add a REDRAFT rule or something so if a player wants to change their rule or post another copy of their rule, they can do so without penalty. I believe a workaround like this is better than relaxing the double posting rule.

I'm Ranger, GrayTheCat's cobud (tulpa), and I love hippos! I also like cake and chatting about stuff. I go by Rosalin or Ronan sometimes. You can call me Roz but please don't call me Ron.

My other headmates have their own account now.

My first thought was basically "Your game's rule against editing is the only reason double posting is necessary"

That said, our system very consciously decides when double posting makes sense and does it extremely rarely, and we always get annoyed if it gets merged lol. We know about [hr] so if we do do it, there's good reason for it. But.. that's unrelated

(For the record, double posting only partially makes up for not being able to edit my posts in your game, and it would still be a big problem if I for example forget to declare a post as a game post, because people skimming through for the rules later would still see it)

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Allowing it in forum games (as long as the OP points out that double posting is fine in their rules) seems like a decent compromise to me. I definitely wouldn't want to see people spamming in a thread like LOTPW.

We're talking about a double post, not three and four in a row, correct? Our guidance was that the occasional double post in a game thread was ok and wouldn't typically be merged.

So what's the verdict, can I allow people to start double-posting in JJJJJ?

Especially considering the lost posts due to merging lately, as what happened in Ashley's lounge, I would probably want to see an official rule change ammendment before I did.
