Disaster waiting to happen?

Recommended Posts

I've read two tulpa creation guides as a basis for my tulpaforcing, yet I am still concerned about partitioning a part of my subconscious and cultivating a hallucination from it.

When I meditate on the creation of a tulpa, am I really messing around with forces that shouldn't be disturbed by typical people? I read that I should prepare a sigil or experience profound enlightenment/purification before I manifest entities such as tulpae.

Would it be detrimental to have fears and reservations during the creation of a tulpa? For example, if I am fearful of the tulpa betraying or harming me, could these fears settle into the subconscious and manifest in the tulpa itself?

Is it possible for one to develop mental disorders or experience some sort of trauma after creating and interfacing with tulpae?

I've seen good people bleed

And I thought I'd seen it all

But my own two eyes would prove me wrong that day.

There are things that I've done

Only seen by the sun

And those things will be buried in my grave.

First, we don't see this as anything magical, paranormal or spiritual. Purely psychological explanations can cover the whole thing. It has a lot more in common with imaginary friends than what you seem to be thinking. You're basically making up a character and imagining that he/she is real, then going on to make yourself able to experience them with all senses (which happens some childhood imaginary friends as well).

Fears can be detrimental though. If you fear / believe the tulpa will betray you, it may well live up to your expectation.

Obviously no actual scientific research has been done on tulpae and mental disorders, but it's probably no more likely to trigger a disorder than anything else.

Er, that's not really what tulpae are about. There's nothing spiritual or metaphysical about them, they're purely psychological.

If you really believe that your tulpa will harm you (not physically, of course, that's impossible), then it will. It'll probably be rude and mean to you. But all you have to do is know that that won't happen, and it won't. Easy as that. Really, it's pretty hard to screw up a tulpa.

And no, you won't get disorders or trauma from a tulpa. Don't worry.

I am skeptical towards most paranormal/mystical phenomenae, yet I felt it was necessary to consult other persons and collect their thoughts on the matter of tulpae. Specifically, any individuals from the occult and traumatised extremes. From both camps I was given severe warnings about the repercussions that could unfold - one occultist stated that the "unchained Id" is not something to be taken lightly. Others noted that these types of "forcing" processes were to be undertaken by hardened and prepared minds.

I've another question. Is it a bad idea to perceive a tulpa as anything other than a tulpa? I realise treating a tulpa like a human being sounds delusional (and most likely is), yet there is a hollow sadness that rises in the pit of my stomach when I imagine talking to my future tulpa and explaining that she is nothing more than a figment of my imagination and concentration (if she did not know that upon acquiring complete sentience). Preferably, I'd want her to know that she is as real as the mind that made her; something that is more or less "alive" and a valid recipient of my time, effort and love.

Your tulpa will understand and most likely accept the fact that they are a tulpa from the second they become sentient. You can still feel free to treat your tulpa as a living being if you wish, but it'll be nothing more than a delusion to both you and your tulpa.

Not sure exactly what you mean here.

If you mean pretending your tulpa isn't a tulpa, and it's a human with a history, parents, past, etc, I haven't seen great things come from that.

I'd quote the FAQ on this matter as well:

What if my tulpa knows it's a tulpa?

Your tulpa will know what it is because it has access to your memories. How it will feel about this is going to vary; most of the time they don't care, because they know they can't change the fact that they're a tulpa.

In short, your tulpa will know it's a tulpa, and unless you try fabricating something otherwise for it, it will know quite well where it came from and how it was created.

However, it will still be a conscious individual, and should be treated as such; if this is what you're instead referring to.

Like, I've spoken with quite a few tulpae in this community, and I treat and chat with them just like they were any other person, since from what I've seen, I consider them a conscious individual just like the rest of us.
