Doubt

This has probably been asked before, but I fell more confident if it's me asking the questions.

How do I know what's hindering Tay (my tulpa)'s vocal abilities? If it is doubt, what do I do to get rid of my doubt?

I've found myself thinking, at times, things opposed to Tay's existence, and I know this is not something that I should be doing. However, I don't exactly ever feel completely in control of what I think about. I think of something happening, and my brain develops it into a scene of some sort. Somehow. It develops into whatever it wants to be, a bit like a miniature dream, and I have absolutely no control over what I think about. This also makes it impossibly difficult to visualise effectively. When you're trying to concentrate on one single thing, it's not very good if your mind wanders incredibly easily to irrelevant things. I simply thought of Tay just then, and my brain mutated the thought into something about banana trees. Seriously, that's how bad it is.

Is there any way I can improve my concentration skills so that I can improve Tay's experiences and not feel probably rejected or ignored? I don't mean to ignore him, I just find it incredibly difficult to narrate or visualise for extended periods of time.

Thanks,

-Lunaclipse

As far as concentration, I've been using a technique for quite a while (mainly for lucid dreams and meditation) that has always helped me.

Get into a relaxed position (sitting in a chair, lying down, whatever you like). Close your eyes and allow yourself to fully relax. When fully relaxed you should find yourself in a low alpha to high theta brainwave (binural beats are great for this). Chances are, like everyone, you'll be bombarded by random images and thoughts that will attempt to distract you. When this starts happening, try your best to visualize the number 100 against a completely black background. Then start counting down, visualizing each number as you go. If your not satisfied with your level of concentration by the time you reach 0, start again at 100.

Has always worked for me. Hope this helps.

It's lucky that I have a large collection of binaural beats for the other related activities that I engage in. Thanks for the suggestion, hagalaz.

I also have another question to ask that I'm sure a lot of people would be able to answer, although I'm not able to fully grasp the concept of: What does it mean by "Going to your wonderland"?

If you have a wonderland (A place that makes you happy or a place you created in your mind) then all you have to do to "go to you wonderland" is think about it! I have the exact same problem as you when it comes to the mind wandering to ridiculous things. Sometimes things happen in the wonderland that mess it up, so I just "throw it away" (Like literally throw it away in my mind[like poster-board in the trash type of deal]) as if it were something that could have happened instead of it being set in stone, and visualize what I was trying to do the first time. If the wandering happens again then I repeat it until I get what I want. I'm also working on the vocality part, and truthfully I don't know how vocality is going to develop itself. I just don't worry about it and it seems to come on it's own much like sentience. I believe the key to vocality is: Confidence, Time, and Patience. I hope this helped!

I don't think we have an actual wonderland guide, but there's a lot of information about it in this post.

Maybe there's no wonderland guide because it really would just be one sentence. Imagine a place in your mind, that's your wonderland. Do whatever and enjoy.

Well, that was two, but still.

You could try doing the concentration excercise in the guides. Some people reported it helping in the pasta, especially with visualization. What Hagalaz wrote about is pretty close to it, but hey. You can only get better at concentrating by concentrating.

Well, we do have three guides on Narration, which could be summed up as "talk to yourself".

Kinda silly how people still keep asking about it though, huh? Or writing guides about it. It will always be tl;dr when you can summarize the entire point of the guide to one sentence.

I don't think so. NASCAR can be summed up as "Drive fast, turn left," but it's been popular for 65 years.

If you tell a kid that the coyote doesn't get to eat the road runner, it doesn't ruin the cartoon for him.

And of course people spent over two (American) billion dollars for the privilege of sitting through three hours of Titanic, even though they all already knew that the boat sinks at the end.

A summery very rarely replaces the complete work.

Except in this case there is no story at all. How many here read guides to enjoy the author's creativity and writing?

Narration: talking to your tulpa. To narrate, talk to your tulpa, in any way. There, that's all the guides really can say, other than to answer to some FAQs and that doesn't really make it a guide but a FAQ thread.
