Falling asleep while tulpaforcing

Recommended Posts

Does this happen to anyone else?

I can almost never get in a decent session of tulpaforcing since I'm always falling asleep. This doesn't happen as much with visualization since I have a clear goal and I'm just trying to basically sculpt her within my mind, but I always fall asleep when I work on the personality.

I sit down, get into a meditation position, close my eyes, and start thinking about a character trait to give her, but I'm not really sure what exactly I should be focusing on since just saying something like, "You are kind" doesn't seem enough so my thoughts drift, I nod off, and then I wake up 40 minutes later with a sore neck.

According to TOG and Clair, falling asleep means there's a slim chance your tulpa could end up getting raped by your subconcious. Try drinking some coffee or tea.

Try fiddling with a small object to keep you in touch with the physical realm.

I'm just going to leave this here:

http://pastebin.com/MKTmbSWW (this is a log, where Clair, a tulpa, is giving her first-hand accounts on this). It's happened to another tulpa, as well.

Some highlights (warning: strong language):

Clair: How about being completely helpless as something remote and alien does what ever it wants to you.

Clair: There's your fucking experience.

Clair: Terrifying, and also when you're PRE-SAPIENT?

Clair: Traumatizing.

...

Clair: Not dream monsters

Clair: The fucking subconscious

Clair: Not being directed by the creator's conscious

Clair: Does whatever t fucking wants

...

Clair: You won't dream about them

Clair: That doesn't change the fact that the subconscious toys with them

Clair: While you're asleep

Clair: Unable to restrain it

Clair: It changes you, pokes and prods at you, does what it wants.

Gingsing helps me at night, I take some of that before tulpaforcing.

Music helps, I've posted my list of songs and albums that I listen to in the music thread in offtopic. But that's for visualization and as long as it isn't a barrage of sounds I like it. That's why I don't listen to hard dubstep, but more or less the heavy stuff.

I answer FAQ's trait template to focus on the personality. You can take what ever poison you pick, but I prefer to focus on it by using the concentration guide, which can be done whenever you have some time available (coffee break, for example).

I also wonder about tulpas at different levels of the brain. If you designed a tulpa to work in your subconsious while your asleep on your second tulpa, how would that work?

Is there anyway I can protect my tulpa against my subconscious? Maybe build some sort of wonderland type safehouse/barricade inside of my mind for her to retreat to when I'm asleep?

Now that you mention it I often feel really terrible when I wake up from falling asleep during tulpa forcing. Just this strange sense of guilt that almost makes me feel sick or disgusted and that bothers me for the rest of the day, but I always assumed that was just because I fell asleep and didn't have much success. Now I'm thinking it might have something to do with this and I'm pretty worried about my tulpa.

The best way? Just don't fall asleep while forcing. Any other time is fine, it's just when you're forcing that there seems to be some intimate connection that leaves them exposed.

I would like my tulpa to be slightly twisted in some way, not the perfect little pony anyone would desire. The desire to kill that sometimes comes over me would be interesting to analyze. And TOG:

As far as I've read and heard it's dangerous for the tulpa, since your subconcious is still able to effect the tulpa during your sleep and possibly produce undesired results.

But I'm as much an expert as a pincushion.
