Can the original personality die?

I've had odd experiences and wanted to know if it's possible for the original self in a system to die. Can they be brought back or will the underlying personality always exist?

My answer is that it's possible if you think it is. I know that doesn't really help much, but if you believe the original can come back, then they can.

Thing is, my personal belief is one I don't want to spread, but I kinda don't think of it as possible in my system, don't want to find out either, but others have had the original come back in many situations.

People have claimed before that the original host in their group ceased to exist for whatever reason, but similarly to tulpas, I don't think that the host would really be dead in this situation, so there's always the possibility of bringing them back.

I don't know. It was my original plan, but then I found out how much being left alone hurts tulpas, so I scrapped it.

Doc: Childhood friend turned servitor gone rogue turned host who's bad at feeling emotions.

Meti: Overly lewd Tupper.

CT, who is also called Jeremy: Original personality whose default emotion is anger.

Relevant post by my host on permaswitching https://community.tulpa.info/thread-is-being-a-tulpa-a-cage?pid=171134#pid171134 and the posts before it may be relevant too.

Somewhat relevant post of mine on dissipation, as once a tulpa is switched with their host it's about the same deal https://community.tulpa.info/thread-help-with-saying-goodbye?pid=163369#pid163369 (skip the first few paragraphs)

Hi, I'm Tewi, one of Luminesce's tulpas. I often switch to take care of things for the others.

All I want is a simple, peaceful life. With my family.

[Hail] Depends on how you define "dead". If define it as gone but possible to revive, then definitely yes with many anecdotes. If you define it as gone for good and unable to possibly be revived, then who knows. Some systems have lost people including originals and tried for years to bring them back but been unable to. Is that because it was not possible for them or because they just didn't figure out the right way. Impossible to know. What is known is that sometimes the person is able to be dug back up and sometimes the system fails to do so. Now, if you define "dead" as their sense of "I" is gone but their material is may still around but what they originally were cannot be recomposed, then definitely yes as well. More so even than the first. Originals can be absorbed which makes it steadily harder and harder to separate them out and recompose them without losses or additions. This is actually one of the few ways to kill a host - absorb them (only works if the person doing the absorbing is stronger or else the result will be more host than them).

My own system has some experience with this. I am the host along with Breach, but neither of us are the original. We are splits. The original, S, was dead for nearly two decades till we accidentally revived her.

If you count ego-death, it is possible for a person to die many times in one life.
