I know some people don't see it as "might" not be alive--but those people are ignorant.
It's completely ridiculous to assume that the way you view a matter is in fact the way it is, with no other possibilities. It matters not if they think tulpas aren't separate consciousnesses--either way, the possibility is still there. Hence "might".

But that's assuming that there is any life after death. Notice this is a community based around the psychological (so somewhat "scientific") aspect of the phenomenon. Life after death is not a scientific matter.
Besides, I've not seen anyone who believes tulpas are as you and I, but believe that we live on after death, yet they don't.

They're teenagers--what do you expect?

(09-10-2013, 05:26 AM)Yori Wrote: Ooo, also, the whole escaping life thing is harsh. I wouldn't want to do it, but it's incorrect that everything in one's life is one's own doing.. that goes against the very definition of life. You're being affected by everyone and everything else around you, and can't take good responsibility nor bad responsibility for EVERYTHING - good or bad - that happens to you. There are some people out there that didn't do a thing to be where they are, for instance, and others who had things they have to deal with now literally done to them, as literally done to as switching with a tulpa- to say otherwise would be victim blaming.
But you alone are solely responsible for how you perceive and interpret the world around you. To perceive the world as harsh and threatening, sad and depressing, or happy and joyful, is entirely up to you. No one can force you to feel one way, or another. If you are unhappy, it is your own doing.

(09-10-2013, 05:26 AM)Yori Wrote: If someone wants to escape their life (not by switching with tulpa), whether it be in books, suicide, etc, that's not 'pathetic.'
And not once did I claim such things were.

(09-10-2013, 05:26 AM)Yori Wrote: Sometimes it's perfectly understandable.. it's one thing to say one should keep on livin', it's another to say it's pathetic not to want to no matter what happens, in fact, it's random. There's no basis for it except random condescension.
Neither did I say this.
I am all for suicide.

It is unfortunate that all this is what you took from that section.
"If this can be avoided, it should. If it can't, then it would be better if it could be. If it happened and you're thinking back to it, try and think back further. Try not to avoid it with your mind. If any of this is possible, it may be helpful. If not, it won't be."
