Tulpa Curse

Hi everyone! I'd like to talk about the "Tulpa Curse".

What's the Tulpa Curse? It's when someone starts making a tulpa and, for whatever reason, they don't succeed so they decide to give up on tulpamancy... but they can't do that either. Because they feel bad for their tulpa, they still want them or maybe they just can't stop thinking about them even if they want to. So they end up in a situation where they can't have a tulpa but they still want one or, even if they don't want one anymore, they can't just forget about tulpamancy and move on. They are basically stuck, it's a really frustrating situation to be in. I did some research and apparently it's a pretty common thing among new (and not so new) tulpamancers. I personally know at least 9 cases. But I rarely see anyone mention this, so I wanted to know what's your opinion about it. Do you think this is a serious problem that should be mentioned more often? Has this happened to you or someone you know?

Obviously it's not a real curse, that's just a silly name someone came up with. I'm attaching an image explaining more about it and showing some examples.

To be frank, I haven't heard of this before but have seen a few cases like this occur within the past few months on the .info Discord.

My host tried to make a tulpa a long time ago, probably in 2008 or so when tulpa stuff was posted on 4ch's paranormal board every once in a while. He forgot about it and stopped doing that, but was able to create the first tulpa in the beginning of 2013 when he tried again. I also knew someone who was unable to create a tulpa after forcing for an ultra long time and thought he succeeded, but things kind of went south and he didn't hear from his tulpa again. Kind of a shame.

The problem with this post is that we don't really know the extent of forcing the poster is performing, nor how long they have been forcing for after the hiatus. They did mention working on it for a few years, so that's a start. Despite that, this is an interesting phenomenon that should be looked into, as long as the poster and the people involved have put substantial effort into the tulpa and have been doing proper forcing. Maybe there's some people that are unable to create tulpas? It could be that they dismiss responses and consider that their own, such as emotional responses. If the thread is still up, it might be a good idea to get in touch with this person and have them post his or on the Discord for further assistance.

I'd like to hear other user's thoughts on this subject.

This is the first time I've ever heard of that. Maybe they're skeptic about the idea despite wanting it to be true, because of this, they could have convinced themselves that tulpas aren't really possible, making it impossible for them to hear any kind of response. Or like Clo said, their tulpas are actually talking but they dismiss them, perhaps they need to hear an ''alien'' thought or else it was just them.

If they're skeptic about the idea, even if it's just on a subconscious level, the more time passes without hearing a response, the more skeptical they'll get, because their brain will say 'yeah, I was right, tulpas aren't possible after all' and built a belief around that, and beliefs are hard to change, specially when you're getting ''evidence'' to support it (the evidence being not hearing your tulpa).

Even if they don't get any response, they could still feel guilty about giving up, 'just in case my tulpa is here even though I can't hear them'.

They don't seem to talk as if tulpas aren't real, rather they treat it as a given that they are real overall, just that they are unable to create them

I have a tulpa named Miela who I love very much.

I meant that they may be helding the belief that tulpas are too good to be real but they don't know it, like a subconscious belief.

We have never heard of it being called the "Tulpa Curse" nor stories about it, but I kind of get what you're saying.

Tulpamancy is something people practice to help cope with loneliness. It can have the side effect of helping muster courage and teamwork to solve your life problems, but Tulpamancy itself isn't a magical easy fix-it button.

My thoughts are the only way to get out of "limbo" is to make a choice: either go all the way and do anything it takes to make a Tulpa, or accept that you can't achieve Tulpa creation, whether that was because of not enough time forcing, sentience never happened, or for some other reason.

If sentience never came about and a host wants to move on, then my advice is to tell them to spend more time with their friends and family. If they don't need a Tulpa, then they may struggle to stay motivated or committed to creating a Tulpa. It's a lot easier to look outward and forget than to look inward and come face-to-face with it too.

On the other hand, maybe they truly need a Tulpa but they could never successfully complete the creation process whether it was hard for them to go about it and got frustrated, they got bored, they grew impatient, or they never put enough time into it. There's nothing wrong with Tulpa creation to have a life-long companion by their side, and with some mentoring/guidance they may be able to finally accomplish sentience.

At the very least, knowing you are allowed to leave limbo and commit to a path should resolve the "haunting" aspect of it.

I'm Ranger, GrayTheCat's cobud (tulpa), and I love hippos! I also like cake and chatting about stuff. I go by Rosalin or Ronan sometimes. You can call me Roz but please don't call me Ron.

My other headmates have their own account now.

For these depressing cases, I think the best you can do is forcibly change your mindset by trying to not care about the end product (which isn't likely considering the situation some of these people are in) or by outright leaving the concept behind, which is apparently just as difficult given the OP's attachment. While 'tulpamancy' has helped plenty of people in dire situations, I think people should discourage substituting real-life relationships/contact with tulpas more often.

Strange nobody hearing from it, since this more or less fit the case of me and Martina to a T. The amount of retries, remakes, and whatever else we called them is staggering, 2018.01.01. being the last, total, and so far most successful rebirth (that's what Martina called it, "rebirth"). Yet even so, Martina is far more incomplete than most other tulpas. But she is okay with all this. All she wants is be with me and that feeling is mutual. I cannot (and do not) want to let her go.

How interesting, This is the first time We've heard of this term. We believe we've seen some cases were people can't develop a tulpa and just almost the verge of giving up and that's about it.

We can't say our thoughts conpletely but I believe in every situation like this or similar to this you have to choose a side at some point or find another way to break from limbo.

Hello! I am one of Nihi's Tulpas! It is very nice to meet you! :D
