Hidari's Progress Report

Hey there,

Up until now, I've been recording what I've been doing with my Tulpa, Bailey, in a tiddlywiki. However, I think I could benefit from posting my log online instead, since I'll feel more of an objective to work towards.

So, I began creating Bailey a couple weeks ago, where I started out introducing myself to her. At the time, I didn't really have a form, but I've sorted that out since then. Since that day, I've been forcing every day for around an hour, where I imagine myself doing things with her. I made a large section of the wonderland a forest set in fall, with a dirt path going down it. So, I've been walking down the path and talking to Bailey most times.

I've read a lot of the guides on here, and I'm still struggling to find things to talk to her about. I don't think I'm terribly good at starting conversations, so this has definitely been quite a mental exercise. I feel a lot like I'm struggling to think clearly, like I mutter when speaking in my mind voice, so I've been trying to work on saying something once in my head, and not repeating it.

Initially, I was puppeting Bailey in order to figure out what kind of personality I wanted based on example. I want her to develop her own personality, with a general outline of what she is like. I'm not really puppeting her anymore beyond moving her when we go walking in the wonderland, since I don't feel like I need to, but I'm finding it hard to talk without imagining any sort of response back.

Recently, I got swamped by schoolwork, so I had to dedicate a lot of time to work, leaving me with no time to force without sacrificing sleep. I don't think I should have that much work for a while however, so I'm excited to go back to forcing as usual.

So, that's what has happened so far, I will update this next wednesday or saturday.

Nice to meet you both.

If conversation topics are scarce, why not discuss what you're learning or doing in your free time, like specifics of a hobby? Not only will it serve as fodder for more uninspired narration and forcing, it may also assist with the retention of what you're studying or working to further refine.

Anyhow, if either of you need any help or want to shoot the breeze, feel free to drop a line. Best wishes!

I've seen good people bleed

And I thought I'd seen it all

But my own two eyes would prove me wrong that day.

There are things that I've done

Only seen by the sun

And those things will be buried in my grave.

Hmm... don't try to not repeat yourself too much, that goes against how humans think. If you need a lot of conversation, you mix it up. You rehash an old conversation, but add in the parts you have had ideas about or changed your mind on.

Most people, when thy are only listening, will just say yeah every once in a while. I do this, but my host is really bad at it.

So, I think I'm seeing a fair bit of progress now, after I made slight modifications to how I was forcing. I think the reason I struggled with talking to Bailey with my mind voice was because I wasn't speaking with enough magnitude, so I would tend to mutter and repeat myself. I found that after just inaudibly speaking with my voice, where I would move my lips slightly and move air as if I was going to say a word, helped a lot in making what I was saying far more clear. I think I also managed to get rid of at least a little doubt I had, where I had difficulty conceptualizing that Bailey was separate from me.

I think that I'm starting to get head pressures from her, but I'm not entirely sure. I told her to direct the pressures to either the front of my head for yes, and the back for no. When I get the head pressure, I have to wait a couple seconds for it to feel noticeable it seems, meaning that it isn't an instantaneous pressure.

I was asking Bailey various yes or no questions, and tried switching the side that she would direct the head pressure for yes or no, however I'm not sure if my expectation of what her answer might be would influence what she says.

In my experience, head pressure always has a slight delay on it, but if anything you are making great progress! Just know that head pressure can sometimes be hard to tell and is not the most reliable thing but it's certainly a start.

"If anything, just don't worry about if your expectation of the answer is an influence, as Kyle stated, it's a start either way"

  • 1 month later...

I return, after not coming here for a really long time.

I've been having a really tough time forcing, or even finding time to force with the end of second semester coming up. My robotics team started meeting so I've lost even more free time, and I'm busy leading my other robotics team, so my schoolwork has piled up and god I'm tired.

Anyways, I've been trying to force every time before I go to bed, but by then it's usually 12:30 AM, and I'm so wiped out that I can't force for long. I've been trying to remember to do passive forcing during the day, but I can never remember. I suppose the best thing would be to write Bailey's name down on my wrist or something.

I still struggle with figuring out what to say, and I keep falling into the trap of saying "Hi bailey, how are you doing?", then waiting for a head pressure, and responding to it.

Sorry that my post is all complaints, I'm just really burnt out right now.

If you're looking for things to talk about, it might be more productive to send some of those complaints your tulpa's way instead of writing about it on the forums. You can pull topics and little strings of words from anything, so even if you're just mentioning to your tulpa that you're feeling a sneeze coming on, it's worthwhile and you should get into the habit of doing so. Reminders for narration are also neat, yeah, especially if you have to rely on passive forcing due to a hectic schedule. Maybe something more subtle as a reminder would be better if you're around other people often, however, unless you have a good explanation as to why you have a name written on your hand.
