jean-luc October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 Reading through some PRs, someone could very easily make their own that sounds real, but they don't actually do anything. Maybe they lookup some guides on making roleplay characters. Is there any way to differentiate the fake and the real? I don't visit as often as I used to. Guest amber5885 October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 I really wish that there was but unfortunately no. It's just up to you to personally decide who to belive and who not to, I will say that IMO its not too hard to see who is just an attention whore so to speak and who's here for the right reasons, We have seemed to have a sort of influx of crazys, attention seekers and people who are using tulpas to excuse their own bad behavior, but a little sifting and some common sense go a long long way on this subject. Quilten October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 Essentially, given the circumstances, even if you could talk to these people face-to-face there is nogood and effective way (as far as I am aware) for them to prove that they have a tulpa. Some people might just think this is a roleplay forum, but I'm under the impression that the majority of the members here aren't part of that. Guest amber5885 October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 I think I've met maybe one or two people here who I can say with at least 60% certainty that they Probobly don't actually have a tulpa. But they were only active for like a day too. I think the regular posters are Probobly pretty serious about it, why would you put do much time and effort into helping others, keeping a diary basically and even logging in if you were just playing an it didn't mean anything to you. FurryBlueNaki October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 I still sometimes doubt if I have a tulpa since he doesn't speak often. But I give him the benefit of the doubt. The Master October 31, 2014 Share October 31, 2014 I still sometimes doubt if I have a tulpa since he doesn't speak often. But I give him the benefit of the doubt. Same here. It's hard to distinguish. I always assume is her talking, even though she have the same "voice" as me. Tulpa: Rin Gratia Age: 10 Years Old Date o birth: 06/25/14 Gratia means "grace", or"gratitude" in Latin. I put that name 'cause I thought it matched with her personality. Luminesce November 1, 2014 Share November 1, 2014 I think 99% of the people here that claim to have tulpas do to some extent, though they may have differing levels of understanding of what a tulpa really is. Honestly, if you make a character in your dreamland, flesh out their personality and then "give them sentience", they'll be able to function in basically the same way as a tulpa. Technically after a while they'd start turning into a real tulpa if you were doing it right, but that's beside the point. I don't look at people here and ask myself if they do or don't have a "real tulpa", I ask myself how well they understand the concept of a tulpa. I go over how well they seem to be doing things, or not, and what potential blocks they could have in development. But I wouldn't go so far as to call anyones' tulpas fake. Technically people could be flat out lying, but I don't care, it doesn't hurt to treat them like they're telling the truth. Unless they're just faking it for attention, but that's easy to tell anyways. Anyways, I don't think you should worry about it. In a way, all tulpas are "fake", but zoom out that perspective even further and so is your so-called self. Don't worry about it, it won't hurt to give some good advice to someone pretending to have a tulpa. The more important thing is to figure out when someone doesn't understand how tulpas work and that hurts their actual tulpa's development. Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there. Guest amber5885 November 1, 2014 Share November 1, 2014 ^^^^not only does it hurt their tulpas development it has the potential to hurt themselves. There is a thread about why making a tulpa to cure depression is a bad thing and there is a reason I'm so adamant on being clear that tulpas are not a replacement for proper psychiatric help if needed. Yes they can offer guidance and support but if you are having trouble functioning, psychotic, depressed or suicidal then creating a tulpa because of the idea that they can help with these issues is irresponsible for the tulpa and yourself. Unfortunatly though what a tulpa is and isn't is very much independent to the person and up for personal definition. There is no clear cut check list and no way to prove to another person or yourself that they actually exist. However to go along with another thing you mentioned; is there a clear cut checklist of what makes a person conciouse vs just a bag of neurons and electrical impulses? No. It's all up to personal beliefs and definitions
Brassow November 3, 2014 Share November 3, 2014 Why would you bother trying to discern whether or not they are lying? Either way, it's still part of their imagination. mr insano November 3, 2014 Share November 3, 2014 I just don't see why anyone would waste their time roleplaying having a tulpa. I'd imagine the vast majority of the people on this forum are trying to actually create one. Maybe I'm wrong, though. Currently restarting visualization in order to get it down perfectly. Progress log (haven't used it in a while, but still forcing)
