Lumi's Dreaming Thread; Dreams of Moon

So that went exactly as expected. I slept from 8pm to 3am, then literally just lay there exactly as I would've to go back to sleep. But I tried to stay focused on the center of my mind, whatever that means. Your conscious thinking space and not the drifting thoughts and imagery. Tried to think of a phrase to repeat mentally to stay focused and got "Don't stop" (from a song).

So what do you think happened? Well first, I said that phrase quite a few times. I was definitely not "totally awake" because I had to pull myself out of those drifting thoughts back to centered focus several times. I also lay perfectly still the entire time, luckily didn't get any itches or anything (or unlucky - your brain likes to throw sensations at you before it turns off for the night, if you're tired enough you won't notice slight itches and such, but if you're still awake you will, and so it stays awake. We're practiced in ignoring them, as per Dreamviews' advice). I believe maybe once I was very close to actually being asleep for maybe five minutes before returning to consciousness. Well, to get to the point, I was completely still and extremely tired for a full hour. I was faced away from our clock though, I only gave up after roughly an hour because my arm was starting to feel cold, and that's too much sensation to ignore and sleep through. Cold from not moving mind you. I'm pretty good at staying still.

Then I gave up and sure enough fell asleep within ten minutes, woke up in 40 minutes having had a seemingly short dream, slept another 40 minutes and a slightly longer dream, and then another 40 but that dream was really long. It's been twelve hours now so I more or less forgot the details, but one of the first two was exploring a college campus looking for classes. Surprisingly not the "oh god I'm late oh god I'm naked" type of dream though, it was pretty casual. Same way we explored our own college. The long one had at least two dreams, the first I only remember the end of, transitioning to the next by walking through a crowded (probably the same campus) building and into a large dorm room. Second dream (because context felt pretty different) we were lying on a couch and everyone went out for lunch, but we stayed because we don't much care for school food I guess. A girl came back for some reason and sat on the couch with us, asked why we didn't go eat, and that's all I remember. So I uploaded my favorite song, but you only get the link if you're actually reading this. If you are, click the space after the word link. The speedcore aspect is just sort of there, it's the vocals that I like. A lot. Anyways, I don't know, I guess I'll do the exact same thing tonight. I think I was accidentally focusing on the center of my vision (behind closed eyes..) a lot of the time, and maybe that's why I never fell asleep still aware. But more likely is just that our mind absolutely refuses to work with us.

That's nothing new.

College campus dreams! We have those too sometimes. Davie dreams he forgot to go to class and like more than once and forgot to do his homework. Our mind is overactive at night. Add to that the tendency to have to go use the bathroom in the middle of the night (old man remember?) and we get maybe, maybe two hours of deep sleep at a stretch if we are lucky. An average night is about five hours of broken fitful sleep.

I don't know. Nothing's changed. Last night I tried a sort of MILD where I went back to sleep (~5 hours into that sleep) with the strong intent to do a reality check "in 20 minutes".

Except I couldn't fall back asleep for the next half hour, so I had to change it to "I will reality check, soon. When I fall asleep dangit."

Well, I had a dream or two that were relatively clear I guess, forgot them by now. Utterly oblivious to my intent prior to falling asleep.

As the brain has proved again and again, it will not let us sleep if we don't completely submit to sleeping. It also transitions perfectly into a completely different mindset and scenario to match the dream, and back again as soon as we wake up. To be honest, that part is impressive. Creating all the context for me to be walking around a new college campus in the middle of the day, even though just before and just after the dream I was perfectly aware of lying in bed, with the intention to lucid dream. But it doesn't help.

We're gonna post music again, sleep related or not, because as some of you may have noticed from the last post, "sleep music" is whatever we decide it is.
What? What music in the last post? One of us must be hallucinating. Better reality check.

Like "Sound of my Dream", you could say this is our dreams calling to us. Just kidding, our dreams want nothing to do with us.
Edit: Oh, "Wake up" features prominently in its lyrics. Uhhh, let's say it's talking about becoming lucid.

Hmmm Tewi went to sleep late (well, late is midnight to us right now) but woke up early, so I'm tired early. I'll go to sleep at like 10 in an hour I guess.

Uhmm, Tewi doesn't even know what to do right now so like heck I do. I don't think the same style of tricks will work for me. I'm just gonna think about stuff I wanna dream about really hard. "Pre-programming dreams" is one of lotsa things we know about dreaming, but usually we're more interested in lucidity. But if Tewi isn't making any progress then I sure won't, so I'll focus on trying to have really good normal dreams. Maybe if they really don't make any progress, I will have been the most productive! If I can make us dream about our wonderland (which is way harder than it sounds, Lumi tried a whole lot years ago when he made it for that reason) then we would definitely become lucid. But, in the middle of a dream. Tewi doesn't want to do anything that won't allow close to a full dream/REM cycle's worth of lucid dreaming, and that's why she's having so much trouble, because the only methods we know to do that our brain is like immune to. So yeah, just gonna try and make our dreams nice.

I found a meditation/sleep song in our itunes I'm surprised Lumi didn't post. Maybe he meant to, or maybe he just doesn't consider it sleep music. It is definitely in the "Sylvia" genre so maybe.

Oh yeah, it's really funny to listen to this from an outside observer's perspective. It totally sounds fast and not sleepy at all. But to us it is totally something we could go to sleep to lol

Well I did have a cool dream last night but it definitely wasn't one I made on purpose. I gotta think of what I want to dream about before I go to bed, because figuring that stuff out when you're falling asleep is hard.

that's all I got

I had an adventure-y dream yesterday and today, so that's awesome. I really appreciated that. Like, full on plot, bad guy doing bad stuff, and sneaking into the area with his source of power and destroying it and being like hah we win! and him being like noooo!

But I was sad today, the second time ever. I cried actually, even if it was only in the wonderland. So I'm afraid I won't have good dreams tonight, because I think the brain likes to put themes from the day before into your dreams. So I'm going to let Tewi switch so she can do work and stuff, and.. Doesn't really make sense but I feel like she won't have dreams like that.

Since I only remembered about one dream both last night and the night before, I would recommend we take a while to work on just dream recall, so she will probably be doing that.

Got woken up by someone turning the heater on at 5AM, which raised the temperature in our room by at least eight degrees. Went upstairs to turn it off, went back to bed, hoped to maybe have a vivid dream as our primary lucid dream experience happened from exactly that type of scenario.

But I dared think a thought, dared to anticipate the onset of sleep, and so I lay there for like 45 minutes before falling asleep and didn't even remember a dream. Remembered a few before and after that. Gonna keep working on dream recall, which the majority of the time is very tied to sleep awareness anyways.

Been watching rabbit videos for the past two hours. Saw a couple on the classic Rabbit Island in Japan. I thought it might be nice to live there, since it's as close as you can get to being surrounded by rabbits in a secluded yet livable area. But I (honestly) remembered that just won't ever be an option for me. Accidentally getting lulled into thinking about things I'd like to do in life sucks.

We're really relying on this lucid dreaming thing. Most of what any of us want to do is far outside of Lumi's lifestyle, or life in general. It's his life, not ours, so outside of short and accessible experiences we're very limited. Lucid dreams are just as real for us as the outside world, and they offer a whole lot more options, including the basic ability to interact with each other.

It'll keep being stated again and again that this is very important to us.

Well if the current plan is just improving dream recall, then Flan and I will work on that. Since she's been sleeping imposed next to me throughout the night recently (you know, all the time that I'm around "recently") I'm slightly more conscious between sleep cycles, and it's easier to remember to do something before getting distracted by being tired.

Maybe I'll try talking about the dreams with her briefly every time I wake up. That sounds like the sort of thing to work particularly well.

The post times of each of our daily posts this page.. 5pm, 7pm, 9pm, 10pm, 12am, 10pm, 12am, 1am, and 1am tonight. This is why, despite going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day supposedly helping with lucid dreaming in some way, we don't even try. I swear my body works on a 28 hour schedule. We just drift forwards over time constantly. Even if I tried to keep it consistent for a while, a week at most usually, it eventually moves forward again.

Anyways, Flandre definitely keeps me somewhat aware all night, but nowhere near enough to affect our dreams apparently. Gonna keep working on dream recall. Sometimes they're just immediately gone, but at least last night most of them I could remember the gist of.

This is a song I once heard a very long time ago, and then forgot the title and artist of only to suffer it being stuck in my head quite a few times totally unable to find it again. Recently I tried looking for it (with its original song's namesake) and the word "Orange" came to mind. I found Orange Jam and after looking through tons of their songs I eventually found this at random, had no idea what it was called. It's not something I'd put on our ipod, but it sure was nice to find again.

Oh, this one's very different from the norm here by the way.
