Can tulpas talk at the first signs of 'mancing?

Recommended Posts

I just started to make My old neopet (yeah.. i used to play when i was younger now me and my nephew play every so often) Flossy into my 3rd tulpa, And i guess after a few hours of tulpamancing she said to me "can we play some more games?" i was alittle surpised to hear her speak so soon.. and my question for you is.. can they start talking during the first part of tulpamancing? Red and emerald rarely said a word when i first made them.

My inclination is to say "no, impossible", considering the short amount of time. However, considering what little any of us actually know about tulpas, it'd be a bit silly to act like I could know with such certainty.

But as far as I'm concerned: no. I don't see how a sentient, somewhat autonomous entity could be created with so little effort, or after such a short amount of time.

We're not even talking a few days, here--we're talking a few hours.

I think there are a few things Kiahdaj is not considering:

A. "3rd tulpa"

B. Pre-existing character

Both of these can lead to faster development. Speaking within the first few hours is unusual, but not unheard of, especially with well-developed characters.

I've played Neopets too, and I know there are different ways to look at the pets. You can see them as what they are: little bits of randomness, pre-recorded scripts, and images -- or you can read between the lines, imagine personality and motivation, and a living, breathing being, who depends on you.

How real was Flossy to you when you were 13?

No, I considered those things.

It does not change the fact that a mind does not simply develop in 2 hours; and certainly not to the point of being able to speak by itself.

But hey, that's just me.

You can believe whatever you choose to, just as I do.

A mind does not simply develop in 2 hours. However, raymond could have created this character years ago. Neopets is 15 this year.

And also, since when do you need a developed mind to speak? Parrots speak. Furbies speak. Politicians speak. ELIZA speaks. None of them have any idea what they're saying, but they can still make the sounds (or express themselves in text.)

I didn't realize that's what you meant by pre-existing character.

I'm not answering the question "can I have made a tulpa a long time ago that just now spoke", though.

I'm answering whether one would be able to speak in 2 hours.

Parrots have minds. Furbies are programmed by people with minds. This isn't a matter of just making noises, either. This is a matter of making coherent noises that express a relevant idea.

well i .. kinda had her as a "imaginary assistant" as i can recall.. we used to talk to eachother alot.. i did this up until age 21 then i guess she up and left.. from what i assumed. but i guess it was a preexisting character..

when i started her back up she was very happy to see me for some reason.

regardless i thank both of you (and as does flossy with a smile) for your help.
