Push for Forced Mental Treatment Scares Tupper Community

I was listening to NPR (US public news network) the other day and I hear this article mentioned. If you didn't read it, it was mentioning how there is now a push for court ordered mental treatment for disorders. This was brought about from the Sandy Hook shootings, and from the Fort Hood shooting, and the other shootings, many of which were brought about by serious schizophrenics.

My question here: How will this affect the tupper community? Thoughts?

Unless I'm missing something, I can't see it affecting the tulpa community all that much. In order to give mental treatment to those with mental illnesses, a person would have to be diagnosed with said mental illness. As far as I know, someone with just a tulpa and no mental illness hasn't been diagnosed with schizophrenia, DID, etc. and I'm guessing that we won't be any time soon.

This push has worried me since the Sandy Hook shooting, and it still seems to be going on. I understand some parts of the push, but it is also very dangerous to many people. The mental health system can help a lot of people, but is also harms a ton.

As for the effects on people with tulpas, that is complicated. We might like to think that just having a tulpa won't get us diagnosed with DID or schizophrenia, but is that really the case. As soon as we say we have a tulpa or that we are a tulpa, how many people, even phychs, going to be listening when we say that we don't have any dysfunction. Also, it isn't just psychs that can get someone sent to the asylum or cause outside treatment to be forced. Law enforcement can and they have absolutely no training or education on how to make such distinctions. So the conversation really will end the moment one says one has tulpa/s or that one is a tulpa. And for those with other conditions, then it gets worse. In short, I don't think we are as immune as we would like to think we are.

I wouldn't say that we're immune, but I'd like to think that most of us don't go running around yelling that we have tulpas. I don't tell people, and I know that several others don't either. Through any actual testing, it's highly unlikely that we'd show up to have any mental illness. I could be wrong there, however, I'm not extremely well versed in psychology.

Yes, law enforcement can indeed, but why do they have to know? I don't run around telling every government agent about my tulpa, and it seems pretty extreme to track every last one of us down through the internet.

If someone says that they have a tulpa to their psychs, then they're putting themselves out there in front of the risks. Not the community as a whole.

Good points.

I think that short of telling anyone outright, the biggest risks to discovery would be being seen tracking the motion of an imposed tulpa with one's eyes or being seen while doing possession or switching if there is any sort of visual cue (obviously, this is only relevant for those who can do these things). Another risk would be in the case where there is major possession and switching with tulpas having a bit of their own separate lives in RL. Then it would be easier for people to figure out that a body was being in the control by more than one person at different points.

Of course, these would be key factors and some of the only few that would lead to someone figuring out that something is up. Though, the eye tracking is so minor, it's easy to brush it off as watching a person across the street or following a floating piece of dust with your eyes.

Possession or switching in public would lead to someone noticing something strange in personality if they knew you well enough, that's for sure, though I assume that most mancers wouldn't do that spontaneously without considering the risks.

Yeah, you are right on that.

Someone close could definitely notice eventually, which may or may not be a problem. The more capable they would be of recognizing it for what it is, though, the less likely such recognition would be a problem (someone else who shares a brain with others would have the easiest time noticing, and they would not be a problem).

On the being seen changing up possession or switching; um, a lot of us in this community are way more reckless than we would like to think ourselves to be, myself included.

Indeed, if someone happens to correctly call you out during possession/switching, chances are the person is well versed on tulpamancy or something similar, and are thus likely not an issue.

Referring to what was said, being seen possessing or switching shouldn't be an issue if the person who notices you acting strangely doesn't know of tulpas, no matter how reckless someone is. Though, if you're reckless enough to do something stupid, then the person who does said reckless thing has put themselves in to the public eye and being taken in to treatment would be their fault.

If there's actually militant searches in this community, it would be kind of ironic if lucid dreaming communities (e.g. parent sites like Dreamviews) don't get the same investigation as well. Because I know a lot of people on those forums that would be Akashic Recording their 7 chakras back to the nuthouse with their spirit guides and what have you.

Just more incentive for others to get accustomed to not being able to reveal the tulpas they have. Unless the person thinks being confined in a mental institution means more forcing time, then it's not really anything to worry about as long as you're not revealing too much about yourself. Funny how talking with thought-forms in your natural sleep doesn't seem to have much negative connotation compared to talking to ones in real life. Guess people can't do much of what a person does in their dreaming state, but if they do anything else in their heads other than that, shitstorm all over.

Funny how societal implications on crazy are as invisible as our tulpas will be to others.
