Narration question~

Recommended Posts

Yes. Visualization may still be helpful, if you feel more comfortable thinking of a specific form while narrating, but all you really need to do is direct your narration to your tulpa. Selecting a form, or even a personality, is actually optional. All you really need to do is narrate enough, and once sentience has been achieved your tulpa could choose those things. One method that helps a lot of people is to think of your tulpa as an object, such as a glowing ball, and focus on that during narration. Of course, they won't stay the ball forever, but it gives something for you to anchor your thoughts on.

Sure you can.

Almost everything in the creation process is just optional and you can do it whatever way is more comfortable for you and your tulpa.

It's entirely possible. Just make sure you know that you're speaking to your tulpa when doing narration, as opposed to talking to yourself. If you find it harder to do when you don't imagine their form next to you, you could still do what Eldamaur said, put them in an object of some sort that's easy to visualize, and work on a real form once you're ready to advance.

Never ever assume you are doing something incorrectly unless it feels morally wrong to you. This entire experience is personal and likely full of symbolism and belief.

All of these different kinds of forcing are just used as a means to give your tulpa attention. That's what they really need. And as far as I can tell, you are doing great. You are getting results and having fun. Why stop and question yourself now?

Hey Anonymous, a recap of what I’m going to say can be found below if you don’t have time to read this.

Even though you said you searched through the Q&A section for narration and such, you might want to check this out:

Most of the queries there are people wondering if narration is different from forcing or if it’s part of tulpaforcing in general. The older posts where FAQman’s hour count used to be the common practice to gauge the development of a tulpa would state narration would be the bridge for tulpaforcing.

People will generally tell you narration involves any action where you’re talking to your tulpa. However, I think this is just a misconception since unless the person is in a narrative mode of speaking, describing what’s in front of you wouldn’t really be narrating. It would just be talking to your tulpa.

Narration is just the action or process of telling a story, and it can be from anecdotes, experiential learning, etc. You don’t have to physically speak out, you can always resort to the mind voice, or you can just use your mental senses. It’s hard to describe what I mean by this, but it’s just when you narrate and visualize long enough, using your mental voice will make things too slow.

So what you would do is just have a nonverbal way of transcribing those thoughts out (e.g. typing, writing on paper, etc.) Although actually being able to physically speak out your thoughts would in theory would connect cortical regions of your brain because it would be a confirmation to the subconscious/unconscious knowing you’re consciously receiving the messages.

Of course, those two terms are merely for conceptualization.

Since it’s your first day of forcing, the thoughts in your mind are going to feel mundane, random, and meaningless to you. But from personal experience, you’ll just have to persevere and realize getting as much thoughts out, no matter what the quality is, will shift into better thoughts.

Use a temporary name if you would like if you’re indecisive on it, just remember to remind yourself every now and then on what you want their name to be. As for the third person/first-person, don’t be picky on what’s going on, just go through the motions.

Things will get better, but you’re going to have to get use to receiving those unconscious thoughts and practicing. It will take more than just a few hours to get things down, try to make a consistent schedule on how much you want to do per day. Shift things accordingly depending on how hectic things may get with your personal life.

When narrating, don’t aim for perfection, aim for motion, movement, and being accepting to any thoughts that come to your awareness.

All I really do (for the time being) is imagining my tulpas through mind’s eye visualization, and then just narrate the adventure/story/series of events that occur in my mind. In short, it’s forcing and narration to some, but to me, it’s just forcing in general.

Instead of only consciously thinking about it, I just let the rest of my mind create the experiential virtual reality for me. Don’t think harder, think smarter.

Recap:

  • Don’t worry about what perspective (e.g. third-person view, first-person view) you’re in. Just describe as much as you can without holding back. In time, you'll be able to shift in and out of any perspective.

  • Go through the motions with any thought that comes to mind, know that every attempt will stack onto more complex and vivid visualization.

  • Stop worrying about control in general, things may feel sporadic and chaotic in your mind, but keep practicing. You’ll know what I mean when you start feeling how things connect and becomes real in your mind when you just let the rest of your mind take care of building the adventure/series of events for you.

  • It’s your first day of forcing, you have a long way to go, but don’t let that intimidate you. It’s pretty much a given that tulpaforcing and the creation process is a long-term commitment. Depending on how much you want to put into this, the more likely things may come quickly to you.

  • Don't aim for perfection, if you want an example of what I mean, you can check this pastebin out. It was 3 hours of narration and forcing, and it's clear I'm not aiming for perfection with spelling anything correctly since my eyes were closed most of the time. Because if you start trying to double-check, you're just restricting more chances to describe what's going on in your mind.

  • If possible, at the end of your sessions for forcing or narrating if you choose to record it (e.g. typing, writing on paper), try to remember how things felt for you and the thought-form during that experience when you re-read them.

First, I just want to say that on my first day of forcing, I feel I've made some good progress. I've gotten responses and some incredible feelings. I can't wait to get going again!

Now, although I'm sure narrating "well" or "correctly" is probably a broad judgement and may be different for different people, I thought I might as well ask. When I force, I mostly just talk to my tulpa and share some of my random thoughts as they come up, though I do visualize a bit to have a kind of "temporary" form.

So narrating, I've currently only done it through my mind, I haven't physically spoken out. I usually say they're temporary name (I want them to choose their name later, but I need something to refer to them as), and I start to speak as though I'm talking to someone (or, as I would talk to another human being). I kind of do a similar thing with other thoughts like sounds or pictures, I address the thought and my tulpa, and I try to share it. There are times when I'll kind of see myself (or at least, something representing myself. I'm not good at visualizing myself in my head) in third person, and I'll kind of talk through that representation, though it's hard to tell at times whether or not I'm actually speaking to my tulpa this way or not. Also let me note that I don't really have much control over whether I view myself in third person or if I'm just talking with no visuals, it all just happens randomly.

Am I sounding alright so far? I can share more details if anyone needs me too. I'm really enjoying the process so far, and I've gotten a few results which have kind of blown me away a bit.

Also, I tried searching through the Q&A section for something like this, but couldn't find what I was looking for. If this is out there somewhere already, I apologize.

That's kind of how I felt. I just figured I might as well ask :P

Thanks for the response!
