Need help getting started

Recommended Posts

Just starting out after reading about it 2 days ago. Hope anyone could help out a newbie!

This is how far I've gotten:

I've created a black empty space in my head where I'll be creating my tulpa. I guess I'll just call it the void or something. The tulpa is starting out as a glowing orb in this empty space. I've decided to do a pony, but I did read it's not recommended creating an already existing character, since your result will never be the exact same as the original, and the tulpa may get sad over this. After reading this, I thought I'd maybe change some of the appearance and traits of this pony so that I'm not trying to create the specific character from the show, but rather something that's more similar to it. Will that work?

Anyway, I will then proceed to spawn smaller white glowing orbs in the void, each one representing one trait. The tulpa orb will start of as purple, representing the character it was supposed to be. As I merge more white orbs into it, it too will start to turn white glowing, which will kind of symbolize my intention to change it to be more different than the pony I based it of..

Am I doing it right?

I have a few more questions as well:

- You should use 0.5-1+ hour(s) one each trait according to one of the guides. I know I won't be talking that long when describing a trait to the tulpa. Should I just start over again and repeat what I said about the trait until I've reached the recommended time?

- Is there any techniques you can use to decide the voice for the tulpa? I'm creating a female tulpa, and I don't want it to sound like a male...

- I want my tulpa to be a native english speaker, although I'm not. Is that possible, and if so, how?

Thanks in advance!

That'll work. Also, as long as you understand that the tulpa will not be the same as the character you are thinking of, and let it also know that, then it probably won't suffer from identity crisis, which is the main concern there.

I do not recommend doing the orb in the way you are doing it. An orb is fine, and I'm doing one to, but don't make it transform from one color to another. The reason I say this is because you may get confused about where you left off color-wise, or you may accidentally get ahead of yourself and make it fully purple before you are done all the traits, and that will just serve to confuse you because then you'll have to backpedal and then you may feel as if you lost something and then it all gets confusing and just don't do it.

-I only spent 15-20 minutes on each trait. When you talk about the trait, how it effects them, their mortality, their rationality, their likes, etc. etc., you will find that it will take about that long per trait.

-If it is a preexisting character then listen to their voice and then try to replicate it in your mind.

-Narrate to it in English.

Welcome!

I've decided to do a pony, but I did read it's not recommended creating an already existing character, since your result will never be the exact same as the original, and the tulpa may get sad over this. There are reports of Tulpas having an identity crisis, though these are not 100% reliable. (Irish's tulpa is based on american mcgee's alice f.i.)

Since we are at the very beginning of discovering the process, we won't be able to definitely tell you somethings right or not. The general opinion is to make at least a different personality from the already existing character, so I think you should be fine with what you did.

As I merge more white orbs into it, it too will start to turn white glowing, which will kind of symbolize my intention to change it to be more different than the pony I based it of..

Yes, you can do it this way. It's just important to feed your tulpa with attention and something that represents the traits. Just make sure you put your emotions into it and said are directed towards your tulpa. Your unconscious will have to realize that you want to create this new personality.

What concerns me a bit is the pre-existing orb. Are you sure you know what's in there? I believe it would be better to create a completely new one instead of extending a pre-existing one. I mean, it's like taking something old and repairing it. You could as well just make it completely yours by forming a completely new orb. Which character is your Tulpa based on?

- You should use 0.5-1+ hour(s) one each trait according to one of the guides. I know I won't be talking that long when describing a trait to the tulpa. Should I just start over again and repeat what I said about the trait until I've reached the recommended time?

It is better to think of something new, but it would be okay to just repeat it. What's important is that everything you say has a meaning and emotional. Never patter it like a poem you learned in your childhood. Again it completely depends on what you think is enough, don't follow the guides 1:1 if it feels wrong.

I'm also in the process of making an english speaking tulpa, although it isn't my first language. I usually talk to it in english and I think she understands me. Just try it.

@Phi

I could just let it be white from the beginning then.

About the voice, you don't really explain when I should do it and how I should do it.

@Bluesleeve

Yeah, you're both right. The tulpa orb should be white to begin with.

I'm basing my tulpa of Twilight.

Also, the tutorial you link to wants you to parrot. Isn't that like... bad?

Nice, she's second best pone.

We do not know currently. It is advised to stay away from parroting, but there might be certain cases where it is beneficial.

Okie dokie. Thanks for the information Blue! I feel more certain and ready now to try this out. Don't think I should start before the end of this month though as I'm going to stay several days over at a friend when vacation starts.

I would rather encourage to start as soon as possible. The fact that you will spend plenty of time around other people may obviously make the work harder, but you will still encounter related situations despite when you begin.

And despite the outcome or progress, you can mostly only move forward in the beginning when it comes to creating a tulpa, it just takes time and experience.

I must have ended up on the wrong planet. Everything here is so strange.

This is somewhat off-topic, but why do so many non-native English speakers have such antipathy toward their native language?

I can only speak for myself, but since I already speak german like a native speaker, there would be no point in making a german speaking tulpa. A great deal of my time is spent on the internet, which is mainly in english. Additionally, I need someone to help me with my choice of words, certain terms and syntax. She could even front me and speak for me if it's necessary.

My first language, polish, is spoken even less than spanish and french, and besides I don't even see any reason to improve there, since there won't be any benefits.

I'm going to stay with my friend around 23-24th this month for about 5 days = 5 days without tulpaforcing. Is it still better to start now, because it seems I'm losing a lot of time there?

In my case, I want my tulpa to speak English because I want to get better at it. In addition the character my tulpa will be based upon is English speaking as well, so it feels only natural to choose it.
