New GAT contributors/manager/future
#1
People have been somewhat concerned about how slowly the wheels of the GAT turn recently (for a while I guess); this is because most people on the GAT currently are inactive (including me). So, this is me asking for anyone who wants to become a sanctioned guide-approver (yes, you) - step forward now. Your forum needs you. Name yourself or whoever you think would be good in this thread, and I guess unless anyone objects, I'll bestow upon you or your nominee the power of life and death over guides, etc. We can have voting if people want that, but I doubt that there will be enough people around to make it worthwhile.

Also, since I haven't been around, I'm not a great fit for GAT manager. So, whoever thinks they or another are fit for this prestigious and onerous role, say so. I guess after new people come in, active members can vote on a new manager.

Now might also be a good time to ask for comments about the GAT process in general. The system was designed to have a reasonable number of active GAT members; it's kind of fallen apart lacking that. So, if not enough people come in: how should we handle things in the future?

How does being a GAT member work when submitting a guide?
I have a tulpa named Miela (formerly known as Monika) who I love very much.

I post a lot here, but would need many more months of study before i would throw my hat in.  I haven't even read all the guides yet, and i would think my comments are amateurish at best at this point.

I would think vos and Apollo would need to approve the approver also.

I have thought about being on the GAT on and off. I am worried I am still too new, I performed the creation process without using the creation guides, and I need more training on the mindset for the GAT before accepting that position. I also need some serious editing practice too.

The only things going for me are that I have been around on the forum since late January and we visit several times a week.
I also have some specific questions. For example, if I am nominated for the GAT does that apply to my whole system or just me?

With fewer people on the GAT, maybe a GAT member could create a survey to get direct feedback from the community? That way, fewer GAT voices can be made up for, but the only problem with that is the GAT mindset part. I thought maybe with 50 minimum non-anonymous responses from active forum members, the rate of approval can be determined and then factored into the GAT vote.
My Wonderland form minus the glasses and the fur. I'm not a hippo, I promise.
Ranger now speaks in
light blue text, but he used to speak in blue or orange text. He loves to chat.

The Grays, my other Tulpas, have their own account now.

I'll of course continue to be on the GAT. I can be the GAT manager as well, since I'm always active on here.

Breloom, if you submit a guide then you just don't vote on it.

The way the GAT's voting works should be restructured. If someone posts a new submission then everyone on the GAT should be notified (it would be useful if they provide something that they check regularly). If most/all the responses after a certain amount of time are positive then it could be officially approved. If a lot of time goes by and it doesn't get any responses, then everyone should be notified again. I'm not too sure how this would all work, though, this is mostly me sharing my ideas.

I like the survey idea, though I don't think we'd need a minimum amount of responses, probably a set amount of time.

Also, yes, it would apply to your whole system Cat.

EDIT: Not sure how me posting this unstuck the thread? I'll fix that
I'm Apollo Fire, the "Sun God" of the Felight family. I'm a tulpa created December 2016. My systemmates are Piano, Luxio, & Indigo. Form images: 1 2

Instead of voting in new members once a year that end up disappearing, we could treat it like the mentorship program where anyone who's interested can hop in, assuming that existing GAT members agree that they fit the role. I don't see any issues with the current voting system as long as we're able to get more people interested in this. For better communication I could make a GAT-only channel locked behind a role (or a separate server entirely) like the old IRC one, although the latter seems like a better option for organization.

To throw my name into the hat, I'm not currently on the GAT (left a few months ago) but I'm not against hopping into the manager role if people want that since I already organize a lot of other things on here.

Being a part of the GAT will be able help the staff even further and be able to assist users with constructive criticism on their guides, all while being able to possibly have them add and elaborate their information. Guides are the fundamental core of tulpas, as most of us would not be here if it wasn't for them - myself included. I'd like to be able to work in a team of like-minded users that strive for the positive development of this community/phenomenon and make a difference, and possibly even revamp it to make it more open to suggestions and opinions of general users.

As part of the chat moderation, this will provide more incentive for me to be more active on the forums and be able to assist more. I have trouble responding to threads to be frank, skimming and over-analyzing every word I type in this post box over and over again to ensure that I'm able to relay the message I'm trying to convey. Due to that, it causes me to be a bit slow to replying to threads, and usually by the time I'm done typing up a post, someone's already replied with basically everything I said. Perhaps I have more to add, I just feel like it's not worth posting at that point due to the points stated prior. If I am part of the GAT, I feel like everything I have to say will have an effect and be able to make a difference and no word would go to waste. Summarizing this post, I nominate myself to be a new member of the GAT to bolster my activity on the forums, provide constructive criticism on guides/commend outstanding submissions, and contribute to the community. Being a chat moderator isn't enough and I'd like do to all I can to be more resourceful to this outstanding forum.

I'm technically on the GAT, I don't think I've ever approved a guide though. I suppose I could look through guides and try to give some thoughts

+1 to Clover, and to Jean-luc being active again. Get on it, Jean-luc, use your activity for good.

Our system still isn't interested in doing actual GAT approving/disapproving, so if that's something the GAT manager does, we're not fit. Vos seems perfect for the role as long as she's willing.

I have nothing against the judgement of people like Breloom or Cat, but I think GAT members should have a little more seniority before being in charge of approving guides. That being said,

Reminder: Everyone can critique and advise on submissions, and I highly encourage doing so. The more opinions taken into account the better. Being part of the Guide Approval Team simply means you also have the ability to approve or disapprove guides, along with some amount of obligation to review them in the first place.

This sounds like a sensible idea. I had intended to do this - the most recent voting stuff was open indefinitely - but maybe that was unclear or too formal. I still worry about a too-small number of people, but I guess we can see if this works before doing anything else.

Do you mean rejoining the GAT and voting on guides as well, or just managing without voting? I would prefer for the manager to be active doing guide stuff as well, since most of the day-to-day is really corralling people and making decisions on guides - I guess Apollo fits that bill. Otherwise, I guess having a manager at all is better than me, who neither votes nor manages right now. This goes for Tewi too.

This is an interesting idea. Possibly the poll could be along the lines of "Has this helped you?", since a lot of dis/approval work is based on trying to judge how helpful something would be. Though I would worry that (especially newer) people might not self-assess helpfulness that well. Still, it's probably worth trying.
