(OLD) DO I have to visulize my tulpa when narrationg?

Recommended Posts

Yay. I have more questions. But now I have questions about a different topic.

1.When narrating, do you have to be visualizing your tulpa?

Usually, I can only visualize when I'm laying down in a dark room, listing to Binaural beats with my eyes closed, but I can't walk around with my eyes closed all day. But I fell like I should be talking to my tulpa more.

So if I'm in my shower (which I have tried to visualize, but it's really REALLY hard) and I'm not visualizing him, or walking around, is it still okay to still be talking to him? Or is it only "productive" when I can see him in my mind?

2.How do I tell If it's me or my tulpa?

I know your supposed to "believe" that it's you tulpa, but I don't want to create a false belief where I think everything is my tulpa, even if it's ACTUALLY me.I heard that when it's your tulpa talking if will feel "alien". Is that true?

1. You can narrate whenever you feel like it. Just keep in mind that you're talking to your tulpa.

2. Not really. It won't feel alien at all at first. It will take some time before you can differ your mindvoice from your tulpa. The alternative would be that your tulpa won't be vocal for a long time before you get a "real response", since you silence earlier attempts of communication.

While this all is a psychological and rather scientific thing I can assure you that you take the wrong way if you keep focusing on doubt. You won't make much progress if you keep questioning everything at all times. You will keep your tulpa small with this behaviour.

I'm not saying that you should believe blindly that everything is your tulpa. You can always be doubtful about this, but you should still allow it to happen or you set up artificial boundaries in the development.

No, you don't have to be visualizing your tulpa to do this. All you have to do is direct your thoughts throughout the day to them as much as you can.

2.How do I tell If it's me or my tulpa?

It may a bit hard for you to tell who is who now. Emotions, thoughts, etc. may bleed through over to you, you'll question if this thought or that thought is actually coming from your tulpa or not. This sort of thing will become more apparent over time, so just keep on going with a healthy amount of doubting like NoneFromHell said and you should be all set.

So often I think people take this process way too seriously, as far as the technique is concerned anyway. What harm could there be in talking to your tulpa as much as you can even if you are not visualizing it? Think about it as much as you can. It's not really that mysterious. You are training your brain, or part of your brain, to simulate the tulpa's end of the conversation. It takes a lot of repetition to get the the "automatic" aspect going.

The tulpa's form is not the tulpa itself. I don't always "see" Melian when I talk to her or she talks to me.

On this answer, I am going with my personal experience and what is written in the guides and what I have seen senior members say on the forum in general.

Guess what? I think the tulpa really already is you or part of you. It is generated from your brain. Part of your brain, or parts of your brain, are being associated with the tulpa or "becoming the tulpa" if you will. How else would it happen? Magic? No, it is psychology then? So, you are training your brain to simulate a persona. Assigning things to it, such as a random thought, only encourages and supports this process. I don't think there is any harm ever in saying "Was that my tulpa? Yeah, I think it was!" Certainly, your tulpa will eventually be able to tell you if it wasn't.

I "assign" or associate many thoughts to Melian, whether or not she generated them. We share a brain and linked mind anyway, so she is involved in a lot of things. She rarely complains about me assigning/associating a thought with her. She will tell me if she didn't say something and I am full of it.

1. Well, if someone's tulpa doesn't have a form, that'd be pretty hard wouldn't it? Like the others, you just have to have the intention to be speaking to him. It's like talking to a real person, you don't necessarily have to see them to speak to them. You could be speaking on the phone with someone and it'd be the same. But you're directing your words to them, so that's all you have to do.

2. Nonefromhell really said it all, doubt will only be bad at this stage, but it's good to still have a bit that doesn't affect how you communicate with them. Make sure you also don't confuse them repeating their words, like how when people say something memorable that you often think about and repeat in your head, to what they're actually saying. It happens to me occasionally.

I'm not going to listen to you guys since you are all probably just talking to yourself and don't really have a tulpa like me.

Sometime I have trouble finding things to talk about. My life isn't that interesting. Plus, it feels like I'm telling Benjamin (My tulpa) things he already knows. I mean, he IS in my head. It feels like he already knows all my memories, so it feels weird telling him past experiences, because it feels like repeating an old story. So what do I talk to him about?

Also (this is kinda off topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread, I've created too many already lol), lately, I've been having trouble visualizing. During the first week, I could visualize Benjamin perfectly fine for an hour, but know, it's gotten harder. I would have thought that it would get easier as time went on, but it's the opposite. It seems like when I try to visualize him, my mind visualizes everything BUT Benjamin. I've heard of things called "Tulpa Tones" that are supposed to improve visualization, but I can't find any download links that work.

I pretty much suffer the same problem with a lack of topic to talk about. For now I just keep reflecting the day with Alice before going to bed. Beside that I just talk about everything interesting that happens to me. To be fair it is easier if your tulpa is capable of answering you. Benjamin might know most of the stuff you know, but it doesn't hurt if you still talk about it with him.

About the visualisation: It should get easier over time, but there are a few other things that matter. If you're stressed or tired it isn't uncommon that you have a harder time to visualize, or even feel anything about your tulpa. Fluctuations on this are pretty common, so no need to freak out when you have a few bad days visualizing him. At this very moment I have a hard time visualizing my tulpa (or something else) aswell.
