Parroting: cure or poison?

My tulpa is less than three weeks old. In the first week and a half, Devin had several independent thoughts which I received in clear tulpish. I could easily proxy him so he could talk to my friends, and though I guess I was technically parroting, it felt like I was tapping into something else, too. (He was born from this combination of parroting and proxying and outside socialization before I knew what a tulpa was.) But in the last week or so, it's like that rapid progress has vanished. I have occasional thoughts which I'm not sure if they came from him or me, whereas before, his thoughts were obviously not mine. I have to go find him in wonderland. If I ask him questions, he rarely responds in any way I can understand. I've basically stopped parroting, for a few reasons. But I worry a lot. Did I not give him enough personality to start with? Did I not parrot long enough for his personality to take hold? On the other hand, would further parroting quash the independence he's shown so far and kill him?

I ask him what he wants me to do, but mostly I get blank stares.

some tulpas just have quiet days, i had a lot of trouble reaching my two yesterday night/today and a lot of hosts feel this for a few days at a time.

Despite the name, the host bodybody is the one usually using this account.

Spice was born in 2013 and Tomoe was born in 2014.

I don't think additional parroting will help this situation. Parroting is useful for helping your tulpa learn how to talk, but if it's done too much then you start to think all of their words are just you parroting, which it seems like that's where you're at right now. If you're unsure about what words/thoughts are his, then just ask him. If at times your thoughts are too blendy, then take a moment to separate yourselves through visualization/symbolism.

Personality forcing doesn't make a tulpa sentient/independent. You can have a fully sentient/vocal tulpa without any personality forcing at all. Personality is something that should come naturally when your tulpa becomes sentient in my opinion. But his personality isn't the issue here, so you shouldn't get too hung up on that. If you want your tulpa to feel more independent from you, then don't parrot him, and don't personality force him. Doing those things very well may "poison" your mindset, and mindset is crucial for tulpa development. Force him by narrating to him and such, but I think any additional parroting will just hurt your mindset by making you think everything he says was actually you. Personality forcing him will add to this.

Here's what you should do:

1. Teach your tulpa to formulate his thoughts into words without you doing it for him. Encourage him to speak using words, don't parrot him.

2. If you don't know who words/thoughts came from, ask him.

3. Don't personality force. Let him be himself, and discover who he is. This will help him to feel more independent from you, rather than telling him how he's supposed to be.

I'm probably repeating myself here, but controlling what he says/does and trying to make his personality the way you want won't help him to feel independent from you. That's why I think you should drop it and be more laissez-faire.

You can read the "personality" and "vocality" sections of my guide for more information/instructions.
