OK before I begin, I had no idea where to post this and since it had to do with Tulpas mostly I figured I'd post it here. If I posted in the wrong place please move/delete it.

So, If you haven't heard yet there is a news story that is all over the place at this point about a girl who stabbed her friend in tribute to Slenderman, and recently she has been deemed insane because she can "see and hear a multitude of fictional characters." Now obviously she IS insane because of other things, (random hysterical laughing, muttering to herself constantly, etc.) but the part that I put in quotes above seems like tulpas to me. I was just posting this here because I wanted the community's thoughts on the matter. Do you think these might actually be tulpas? If so, do you think they would tell her to stab her friend? Do you think this will cause a bad reputation for the tulpa community?

(And why does the spell check on this forum keep changing "tulpa" to "spatula?")

I have migrated accounts because I started using a new username for tulpa-related stuff.

Her 'tulpas' tell her to kill people because of underlying mental illness. Ours form relationships with us ranging from children to lovers and encourage the best of us at all times through unconditional love and support. It's so far apart I barely see a connection, that's like saying 'I think the grass looks pretty today but ice cream tastes good.' They just have nothing to do with each other.

Why should we worry what others think?

This is not, I repeat NOT tulpas.

I'm not her doctor but it sounds more like untreated paraniod schizophrenia and the girl has suffered a psychotic break.

What I want to know is how her parents didn't know something was wrong with their daughter. Things like this don't just fall out of the sky there had to be times when her parents were like "okay.... Maybe my kids a little batshit... I should Probobly get that looked at."

I suppose your both right, yesterday my friend planted the idea in my head that this story sounded like tulpas and then I couldn't get it out of my head and wanted some other people who have tulpas input on the matter. Thanks.

Yeah don't worry dude. Your tulpas want what's best for you. Toby doesn't even want me to smoke anymore let alone kill someone. I don't think a tupper would do that honestly.

I have directed people to this post -> http://community.tulpa.info/thread-misc-on-tulpa-and-schizophrenia before and I will do so again. It's probably the best explanation of Tulpa vs Schizophrenia I've seen on this site and if it were up to me it would be required reading for everyone here. Hopefully this makes you feel better even after our words.

So one of the girls involved has been deemed incompetent to stand trial, usually this means that she has undergone all sorts of tests and been diagnosed as mentally disturbed by a psychiatric team. As I understand it, because this opens the door to an insanity plea that may actually work in court, a person is usually beyond a shadow of a doubt suffering from some sort of mental illness/disorder/deficiency. In other words, it's usually harder to be diagnosed during a criminal trial than under more normal circumstances as the courts don't like giving the defendant the chance to have an insanity plea that would be accepted by the jury. In short, this girl is very, very mentally disturbed and the Slender Man story became part of its manifestation.

I completely agree with Amber and Raechill, this is the manifestation of mental illness and not related to tulpas.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but one of the rules about Slenderman is that the more you know about him, the closer he gets to you. In other words, tulpaforcing. Am I the only one who thinks that Slenderman should be "destroyed" (meaning a community-wide effort to get rid of the Slenderman creepypastas)? Much of the info about him paints him as malicious. Would it be easier to "destroy" the meme, which would be treated as just a meme, or treat Slenderman as an agent, and paint it/"him" as benevolent, like any tulpa (but one that just happens to look creepy)?
