Sleep-Deprivation + Forcing?

Okay, so I "accidently" stayed awake until 5:00 AM a few days ago. I'm quite a lightweight when it comes to retaining energy, so that means that by 5:00, I'm stupidly tired.

For some reason, I decided to talk to my Tulpa a bit. So, I did. And surprisingly, in my extremely tired state, I was able to audio-hallucinate better. I heard my Tulpa speak back to me, in her own voice, as if she were right next to me.

So it's possible that (at least for me,) being extremely tired enhances the host's ability to hallucinate. It's kinda known that being super-tired means that you can hallucinate to some degree, or so I thought, after reading some studies I found somewhere in a science magazine. ^_^

Anyway, if any other non-imposed Tulpa-mancers can also kill themselves via tiredness and try this, that'd be great, thanks. :P

EDIT: And yes, she confirmed that this was her, shortly after.

I have done it a few times, and it does seem to help with some things. Others seem to hallucinate easier on sleep deprivation than I do (72+ hours and no hallucinations), but I have had some other interesting effects. One time last year forcing on sleep deprivation and caffeine I got about as close as I've ever been to feeling like I was leaving the body -- I focused on being in the wonderland while Lyra focused on pushing me out of the body, and I felt that presence inside my head move over a little before being snapped back. I've also had some better communication while super tired, though sometimes it just results in the tulpa being exhausted as well.

One note though: Don't sleep-deprive too regularly, apparently it can have permanent effects on the brain if done habitually.

Lyra: human female, ~17

Evan: boy, ~14, was an Eevee

Anera: anime-style girl, ~12; Lyra made her

I've made several attempts to reach this 72 - 80 hours mark, never made it. Just being aware of my body became really uncomfortable after 30 hours. To go a second night without sleep, I guess I'd need to play video games for hours, because I couldn't focus but needed to be doing something. Caffeine and energy drinks just added to a growing distaste for food. My ability to force did not improve. I checked if things I imagined are more clear, but only managed to frighten myself - you know, the Wonderland Shadow. I think by the beginning of the fourth day, I'd go insane. Maybe I could see and hear my tulpa, but that would be no forcing as I would probably sense a lot of less pleasing things as well. Out of control. Never more, there are better methods to see stuff.

As for just being tired, that has awesome effects. When nearing the state of sleep, all kinds of rich imagery appear to me. A while ago, an extremelly accurate shape of my tulpa's face randomly assembled in my mind. That was after not seeing it for months. It's good to see it's still there. Or just an hour ago I heard a man's hard voice talk angered nonsense for a few minutes. These voices are usually of people whom I have heard recently, but I did not recognize this one. These things are fun.

It does not quite match the "don't force before sleep" motto. Where did that come from, does it have something to do with dreams? Is it necessarily bad if they are affected? I'd love to know how to make use of these states of mind in a more controlled way.

I have no idea where that comes from, although I don't think it causes much trouble, because I always force right before sleep. :P

So far, my Tulpa isn't a mass murderer or anything, nor is she even slightly miffed that I did that. I don't think it matters as much as it is made out to.

I was actually thinking about this recently, People brought up imposition is easier for some to do while really tired. I remembered that back in highschool 3 years ago I went roughly about 3 days without sleeping because of homework. I remember I ended up seeing shadows moving in ways I wasn't expecting.

One note though: Don't sleep-deprive too regularly, apparently it can have permanent effects on the brain if done habitually.

Weeeelllll shoot. How regularly is "regularly" would you say? Like how many hours of sleep on average would someone who is "regularly Sleep deprived" get? Back in highschool I was burning the candle at both ends falling asleep late and waking up at 5 am every morning.

I encounter an increased & unarrangeable need for sleep during winter & a more periodic kind of phasing insomnia during summer, so here's my 2 cents: When it's long term, it's nowhere near helpful. The hallucinative qualities are a novelty luxury and only seem to appear at all when deprivation is the expectional state, not the norm. Long-term deprivation carries nothing but mental decay and burnout, and the unimaginative, passive groove i find very counterproductive to hallucinating anything.

...Aren't there quite a few threads on the effects of sleep deprivation on tulpaforcing already?

Not to derail, but it's getting a bit redundant.

anyone who disagrees are dumb.

I'm gonna put this as my sig.

Well, it's around 2 AM right now, so I might as well try this tomorrow morning when I'm half asleep in class. I'll update this tomorrow after school.

No it's not my fault I'm up this late I blame insomnia

Edit: Doesn't seem to improve much. All it does is drain my ability to focus.

I normally follow what you would call a regular sleep schedule, but there are times when I try to deprive myself of sleep when either trying to stay up for events that my other-side-of-the-world friends are doing, like livestreaming games, or because I stayed up too late and can't be assed to sleep for only a few hours. I'd be more than willing to give this a go next time I feel the need to stay awake longer, and will be sure to post results afterwards.

Stage: A bit of everything, primarily right now imposition.

Appearance: Pony (originally styled similar to the MLPFiM art style, but lately has been shifting to a more anime-ish appearance)
