[Survey] Normality and What the Mind Is
#1
Question
Now, loaded questions; Tell me if this doesn't make sense

   - How does the host/tulapmancer/original/ whatever you want to use to describe the original mind and that who made a tulpa, how do they feel about being nor normal, something out of the average, different, does it impact their thoughts positively, or does it harm them by knowing that others cannot relate to them? What do they think of them, with their tulpa, of not being normal?

   - From your experience of having a tulpa, what are your thoughts on what is sentient, alive, and on how the mind can affect the body? And how have your thoughts about that changed after 'obtaining' a tulpa?

Basically,
  -  How do feel about being not normal in the sense of having a tulpa?
  -  What do you think of what sentient life is and how has 'obtaining' a tulpa changed your views on that?

This information is being used in a psychological "report" (and by that i mean a report on how the mind, the brain, and the body interact with one another), of which the responses given will be used in a mix of paraphrasing, quotes, and other forms of referencing data while using substitute names for anonymity. And while it does not focus primarily on tulpae, a large section of it will be devoted towards them, and i will post the "report" here, and on another thread (https://community.tulpa.info/thread-leve...in-a-tulpa) once i have completed it.

Sorry, I'm going to need to know why you're doing this, what exactly this "psychological 'report'" is going to be, and how our answers may be used (Directly quoted? Made available in their full forms in some public spreadsheet with the names removed? Only paraphrased/used as reference?) before I'll answer.

You may want to come introduce yourself in the introduction thread or LOTPW. I see that you have two posts and two threads. Once you've introduced yourself around and been warmed up to, you'll probably get a lot more engagement on any questions you may have. Come say hi, first.

Do you have to be a host/original to answer this? Or can tulpas answer too?

Yes, as the question directly relates to the experiences before and after obtaining a tulpa, the tulpa would be incapable of answering as they don't know any other experiences, it IS normal for them

Hope this helps

Eh? But I know what things were like before I was made, since I have access to those memories. I don't think I'm incapable of answering, hence why I asked.

Oh, yeah, that's right, sorry, you're a special case. Ummm, I guess in your case "what did your host think about having multiple tulpae, as in did they consider themselves not normal and how?" Sorry, this is a host's experience sort of thing, simply knowing what happened in the past is not the same as feeling it.

-How do feel about being not normal in the sense of having a tulpa?

My host and I don't think that having a tulpa is all that unusual or "not normal." Humans do all kinds of wild things with their mind.
We think a lot of phenomenon and mental effects in history could be very similar to tulpas, they just were not called that. So, to answer the question about how we feel about it, we don't feel all that abnormal. We do feel that my host has a very vivid imagination and great visualization skills.

- What do you think of what sentient life is and how has 'obtaining' a tulpa changed your views on that?

We disagree with tulpamancers sharply on the "sentience" of a tulpa. We have an entirely different explanation as to what is happening in the mind with that, which I will not elaborate much on here other than to say we think it is altered states of a single mind, not multiple minds (not that it really matters as the end result is the same). Our system is not a tulpa system, but a median system instead, so we can't exactly answer for tulpamancers on the experience. Still some have suggested, after interacting with me, that we are a tulpa system after all, but simply with it's own unusual quirks. I dunno.

TL;DR We don't think it is abnormal or even unusual to have a tulpa and we don't think the tulpamancer mind is any different than any other human person's mind.

Tulpas and Hosts share memmories, so even though a Tulpa wouldn't have the host's thought processes, they would remember everything they did, including their emotional state at the time, and be able to guess.

Remembering his other thread, it looks like he's a psyche student or something, but it's not clear. On second thought, iwishtogameend, shouldn't all of the participants be over 18 years of age if you are going to publish the results to your professor or school/university?

Having a tulpa or not never bothered me, i never considered myself normal even if people told me thay thought I was the most normal person they ever met, (it did happen).

However, joining a community where i was not normal among others that are supposed to be like me was pretty devistating at first. However, I understand better now where there are similarities and differences, how each system is a little unique. Just because my system matches the norm only 70% of the time here, acts like a soulbonding system 50% of the time and has DID aspects about 25% of the time as well as matching to some small degree with systems who have alters and have had egocide, AND how Ashley is a heck of a lot like a spirit guide in a lot of ways, doesn't mean to me that I don't belong in any of these communities, it means to me that i can relate to a lot more types of systems, which is cool.

Normal or not, it doesn't bother me much now.

[Ashley] he's the epitome of normal. Don't believe any of it. No he loves us dearly, but we're very much a secret to the vast majority of people in his life, and we would like to stay that way, thank you.

Quote: -  What do you think of what sentient life is and how has 'obtaining' a tulpa changed your views on that?

This is a tough one, but to me sentience has a little something beyond life, volition, and agency. It's that little extra something that differentiates something sentient from something pretending to be sentient.

Once a thoughtform has seemingly independent vocality, then sheesh, they can say just about anything, so it comes down to whether you believe them or not.

I have to think some other thing is added to a vocal character before they become their own person, otherwise I have about three dozen sentient creatures inhabiting my mind.

I don't because i have three tulpas two dozen vocal sentient seeming characters and a dozen or more iffy characters thay are kind of one dimensional. Beyond that i can conjure up on the spot characters that seem pretty convincingly lucid, but their story quickly devolves the deeper you go with them.

The difference between a sentient tulpa and a sentient seeming character to me is in how they act day to day.

If they're invested in being present and active, constantly coming up with new ideas and surprises, they're probably their own person. If they stay away for days or weeks with no loss of potency, they're willing to be puppeted or parroted (even if they don't have to be) then they're probably a character that is animated by your own subconscious.

Certainly before I knew tulpas existed, all I thought I had were characters. I didn't see them in my dreams, i didn't get emotional bleed from them, i was alone with my thoughts. I did however speak with my characters and had a half-hearted soulbonder mentality. I wanted to believe my characters were somehow real, either channeled or in sone otherworldly way animated in our discussion. It was a very big stretch, and once I discovered tulpamancy, and actually experienced tulpas, what a difference. It had huge implications to my imagination, religion and other beliefs.

...

The body to me is just an operating system, we are the programs and subroutines. By analogy, macros can be written to affect amd control body processes, surely, we've done that.

Everything above is based on my experience and doesn't necessarily match the ideals or sentiments of this community. Use this data any way you wish, you don't have to cite me, but you can too. I'd like a reminder when your work is completed.

I highly disagree with this. I can and do feel the differences in the experiences back then and the experiences now, emotion-wise and perception-wise. I think you're missing out on potential useful data/viewpoints by excluding tulpas from answering.
