Brassow January 26, 2014 Share January 26, 2014 Is there a way a tulpa can slow down and/or speed up time AND your reactions? I am curious as to test this in some sort of matrix dodge or some other awesome thing like that with Jason. Kaz with a K January 26, 2014 Share January 26, 2014 I've heard people mention this and I think glitchthe3rd talked about it on a thread. Can't remember its name, but I do remember that he said it was like, very hard to slow down perception of time and it took a long time of meditating to even slow down a second or so. But, it's only second-hand information, sotake it with salt. Vos January 26, 2014 Share January 26, 2014 That'd be time dilation, and I don't think this topic belongs in the metaphysics board. Glitchthe3rd claimed to be able to do this, but he said that it was barely noticeable. It'll definitely take a lot of work to achieve something like this without some sort of trigger (like having a gun put to your head or you falling from a skyscraper). LukeDude759 January 27, 2014 Share January 27, 2014 The way I think it would work is basically this: Brain has slower processing speed = Time seems to go faster Brain has faster processing speed = Time seems to go slower So basically, all you need to do is find a way to put your brain into some kind of "overdrive" mode, and you have slow motion. Of course, this would take up a lot of energy, and you wouldn't be able to do it for more than a few seconds if it's even possible. Kaz with a K January 27, 2014 Share January 27, 2014 words words words So, all you have to do is put yourself in an adrenaline-enhancing situation, preferably one where you won't die. waffles January 27, 2014 Share January 27, 2014 That's exactly right. Basically, your tulpas can't do it much more than you could as you might in a life-threatening situation. Yes, it has been reported, and yes, it reportedly took a lot of practice. But it's worth considering that you could do so just as easily without a tulpa as with one. However you go about it, trying to be Neo will get you killed. Even if it's a joke, we can't have naïve readers thinking that you can think (and move) that quickly. Yeah, some alteration of time perception is possible, but it takes practice. You don't need a tulpa - some martial arts teach this too. See also Kevin's experience of this. Xantan January 29, 2014 Share January 29, 2014 It seems possible that you could condition an adrenal response. I imagine you would need to experience the response and do as much as you can to remember the feeling it gave you and as many of the physiological reactions it produced as you could. Then you'd need to pair the memory, or the response if it's available, with a neutral stimulus, like a word or gesture. Over time using that word or gesture should produce the adrenal response. That said, i imagine the adrenal response is going to be very hard on the body if you try it too frequently so don't ignore negative side effects of your practice. Also make sure you eat properly, drink lots of water, and nap if you get too tired. "The way is in training." - Miyamoto Musashi
Bacn January 30, 2014 Share January 30, 2014 I'd just like to point out that, while there is evidence that time dilation is possible, extremely few people can actually achieve it and so we have very, very little information on the matter. It may be possible to use it to increase reaction time, but it is equally as possible that it just causes hosts to remember 'at a higher framerate', so to speak. Good luck finding anyone advanced enough to even try it, though. Doing any real research on the subject may not be possible for several years.
