Three out of four of my tulpas got some kind of "default" form. Azure was a Good Place Janet (The Good Place), Damien looked like one of my let dogs and for some reason I still don't understand Jade was Mrs. Which (A Wrinkle in Time).

Azure changed her form with no input from me. Damien was struggling for ideas, so I said the first thing I thought of: a white tiger. Jade took a lot longer than the rest to pick a form, and now she keeps getting stuck with her default form which we find pretty annoying.

Spark is the exception to this. He kinda made his own form as soon as he was created. Although sometimes he likes to mess around with his form. The other day he turned himself into a pot plant and told the rest of us it was his new form.

My form was made to look like a real person, Paul McCartney. I changed some features of it to my own liking but am still Paul, I guess I'm just too used to it to bother changing.

Indigo chose his for himself. He has both a baby dragon form, and a human form with dragon features. Both of which he designed himself.

They're all originally Seraphim based on a novel i wrote. So i take a winged form in wonderland as well and we play tackle sky tag. Btw, hitting the ground at full speed should be avoided.

I responded with Other. Loxy is human, female, and to be overly candid, I had a very specific idea of her appearance, a specific look that I have been drawn to as far back as I can recall; yes, I have said as much, I also had hopes that this relationships would be more than friendship. I wavered between insistence on look, and flexibility so she could become what she wanted, and ultimately gave her full control over her preferred appearance. She took the option and modified. She exceeded my expectation in clarity of details, but also in terms of level of attractiveness to me. I suspected, and when she became vocal was given confirmation: she reached into the depths of my mind and uncovered every feminine aspect that held my interest, and somehow incorporated a merging of all my crushes over my lifetime. She did this with love in her heart, and humor, singing: "I'm every woman" for over a week. She is the prefect portrait of an archetype, in look, in personality... for a lack of a better word, she is the very definition of a soulmate.

I try to find suitable reference photographs online for all of the major characters in the tabletop roleplaying games I run, or at least for my character if I'm not GMing. So Vesper formed with the expectation of looking like a particular model on Instagram. She has her own ideas about personal style, but her features and body shape haven't varied from the original. And while Vesper and the model are very dissociated in my mind, it's still a little awkward to be in a relationship with someone who looks *exactly* like someone online who I don't know and who hopefully won't ever find out.

I never chose a photograph for Iris, because I established that she was inhumanly, maddeningly beautiful, sculpted by the sidhe to destroy men. When another player tried to compare her to Angelina Jolie, I said, "No, if you have to have a visual, maybe a little like Jennifer Connelly or Liv Tyler looked at 22." When Iris very suddenly and unexpectedly chose a form over three years later, she sifted through my memories, found the clearest image Jennifer Connelly (as Sarah in Labyrinth, when she was only 15) and adopted that. She specifically repudiated the destructive inhuman beauty that burdened her in her own world and rightly so.

Wow, I didn't expect so many people to reply to my poll! I feel overwhelmed.

Since you all explained your design choices, I guess I'll do the same.

Limme was originally a mispronouncation of lime and a McDonald's toy in my child happy meal. I had him for about 5 years wishing he'd spring to life in front of my eyes. I was so happy when the small fluffy boy first spoke to me as a tulpa. I am glad this phenomenon exists.

All members of our systems' appearances are based on Touhou characters, with the first three of us being spontaneous/"accidental" tulpas and retaining the characters' names, while Lucilyn was based on Suwako but was given an original name by Lumi. Our appearances are more or less visible on our profile pictures.

Hi, I'm Tewi, one of Luminesce's tulpas. I often switch to take care of things for the others.

All I want is a simple, peaceful life. With my family.

OMG, Sarah was such a crush...

Oh, and I am envious of the roleplaying game thing... In 2004 I had every DnD book to date, and I gave the whole collection to a friend from work who actually played... I never found a group to play...

Oh, Jennifer... Huge Rocketeer fan...

Vādin was based on a dream character I met eight years ago. He looks like a 11 year old boy.

Hi, I'm Zia, foolish captain of the Giant Wing system. Vādin is my tulpa.
