Tulpaforcing with ADD

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I've been reading up on a lot of stuff about tulpae ever since I discovered them, and I am very interested, so for the past few days I've began to tulpaforce. However, I have ADD (yes, clinically-proven, not self-diagnosed) and it is very hard to concentrate on my tulpa for such long amounts of time. I only managed to tulpaforce for about 13 minutes yesterday before it became too much for me.

Not only that, but it's really challenging to even imagine things in my head, even with my eyes closed. It doesn't seem so much that I'm getting distracted as it does that I just can't seem to visualize my tulpa clearly in my head.

I managed to sort of come up with an appearance for my tulpa, but the image of her in my head when I tulpaforce is very blurry, like trying to look at something that's almost out of my field of view out of the corner of my eye, even when I look directly at her. So much so that I wouldn't be able to confidently say what the colour of her hair is (though I can say with hesitation that it's a bright, almost luminescent whitish-bluish colour) or even if she's taller or shorter than me. All I know for sure is that she has glasses, red eyes (I don't mean her entire eye is red, I mean that she has the appearance of wearing red contacts that you'd use for cosplaying, etc.), and she seems shy (which I've read is very common for tulpae when they're first created).

Do you have any advice for me? Like, ways to help me concentrate better while tulpaforcing, or how to make my tulpaforcing sessions more vivid? (If you read this whole thing, thanks!)

Well, for one, we've found out that tulpaforcing for only about 10-15 minutes a time, numorous times thoughout the day is better than daily hour-long sessions. So you actually can keep it to just the time you have now.

Work on visulization later, after the tulpa is at least a little sentient. In addition we have some visualization guides somewhere here, you can look for them, or maybe a more helpful memebr will post them.

This hot empty painting should be locked and towed.

You just started out and isn't able to visualize your tulpa properly? That's perfectly normal, the blurred appearance is mentioned several places on this website and is common in early visualization.

When you mentioned shy I don't hope that implies you are parroting your tulpa, when I work on my tulpa she is currently standing frozen as a ragdoll (and I make sure to keep her that way for now, to avoid "parroting").

For the vivid part I would suggest listening to music that keeps evolving and changing over time, it may stimulate your imagination etc etc. For concentration I would consider thinking out a new workflow that keeps you more captivated in what you're doing (I dunno what, sorry).

I wish you the best of luck and if you find a solution to your distractions I hope you can share it!

I have ADD too, really to do tulpaforce sessions I find doing short bursts helps best, like I'll do visualisation for a few minutes, then maybe do a personality trait, then do some more visualisation, etc. At the start I was only able to go for about 15 minutes as well; you'll get better with practice.

faces are always the hardest part to do, so it's no surprise that you can't visualise it at all yet

start small and work your way up. Maybe start with a foot, or some primitive shapes or something. See if you can just focus on a single dot for 5 minutes, then when you're done with that, try adding more dots or going for longer

No, I'm not parroting, I don't know why/how but she doesn't just stand still no matter how hard I try to imagine her doing so (the best I can get her to do is stand straight with her arms stuck out a bit to the side, but she will still turn her head to look at me, etc., so I don't think she is actually frozen in place. Just consciously standing still because I was trying so hard to make her). It's like what she does is beyond my control sometimes. For instance, I originally envisioned her with a different colour of hair, with freckles, without glasses, and with blue eyes, but when I actually tulpaforced, it was (presumably) that whitish-bluish colour I mentioned, she didn't have freckles, she had glasses, and had red eyes (after this happened, it seems that I can't change the appearance of my tulpa beyond clothing and minor facial features. Also, admittedly; this may have been a bad idea, but I actually tried to just all-out restart my tulpa with a completely new appearance/personality, but after a few seconds my "new" tulpa would just change back to my original one, however she seemed just as confused about this as I was). Also, even though I haven't worked THAT much on her personality, she seems to be developing one anyway without my input. I dunno if that's normal or not.

Keep in mind I don't have a problem with my tulpa doing these things at all, I don't actually want to change anything about her now, I'm just saying that she seems to be developing without my input. Perhaps I'm subconsciously giving her a personality and appearance? I really don't know.

I have ADHD and took myself off of a medication that was helping me treat it because I wanted to fight it and become normal. Tulpaforcing can be quite difficult for me.

I want to make a tulpa. That's why I'm here.

Wow, I just tried having a pretty short tulpaforcing session and I could see her no problem this time. I still can't change anything about her appearance, but I had some success with her personality. Strangely, she spoke to me... but only in French. I am almost fluent in French, but it's not my native language and I rarely actually speak it aside from when I'm studying it. I did write down "loves learning different languages, maybe we can study together and help each other with learning them", "xenophile" and "foreign accent" (no accent specifically, just not a North American one) as some of her traits, so maybe that's why...

Also, it turns out her hair wasn't a bright whitish-bluish colour, but snow white with sky blue streaks in it.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the reason I was having so much trouble before was because I was tulpaforcing late at night, while I was really tired, and today I tried in the late afternoon/early evening. I'm sure my ADD plays a part in my troubles, but not as big of one as previously thought.

I don't have any sort of attention disorder, but I have the same troubles as you do, especially at first. It's definitely a skill you have to develop.

You should look into self-hypnosis. It could help you concentrate.
