"Tulpamancy" and other terminologies

Since I've recently gotten back into all this, I've had to discuss it, but the terms seem a bit weird.

It seems to me like "tulpamancy" would refer to the actual process of making a tulpa, including imposition, narration, forcing, visualization, etc., but not for the modern tulpa phenomenon as a whole. I've heard "tulpism" thrown around a few times, which is a stupid-sounding word, but it would fill that linguistic niche in the community. (I originally posted this as an aside here, but that wasn't the place to have a discussion about it)

Some could argue that the two words would be the same, like in skiing or something like that, but I'm not sure.

What do you all think?

Feel free to merge this into here, but it looks like last time someone tried to necropost that thread it got a negative response.

In all of my time knowing about the word "tulpa" and no longer having "advanced imaginary friends", I have never heard someone actually say tulpism. Maybe as a joking term once or twice not meant to be taken seriously.

I'm fond of the term tulpamancy. People don't like it because it sounds unscientific, but I like it for that reason. I feel special every time I refer to something very serious and logical as -mancy.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Technically is a tulpa never really "finished", so the word tulpamancy seems fine until you make a fullstop. I'm not sure if the great art of just hanging around with your tulpa really needs a term on its own :D

Tulpa: Alice

She may or may not talk here, depends on her.

I like "tulpamancy" and "tulpamancer" as well, simply because it sounds so cool to me. There is something to be said for just plain coolness factor. :-)

It's that "tulpamancy" sounds more like a nounified verb than a noun. I mean, the true verb form of a word with the suffix -mancy would be -mance, but you don't hear about people say "I'm going to tulpamance today." That's where the word "tulpaforce" comes in.

Tulpaforce! Which also has a coolness factor. :-) May the tulpaforce be with you!

Speaking of tulpaforcing, poor Yoda has been so neglected. Melian and I are horrible tulpamancers. That is not a surprise I guess.

-mancy implies messing around with something usually mystical but extrapolated to, well, anything you feel like. Tulpamancy is the mancy of tulpasing. But the real definition is something weird and it makes no sense. Anyway, you don't tulpamance and then not tulpamance, to tulpamance is to have a tulpa in general. To tulpaforce (I usually just hear force) means to do any of many activities aimed at furthering the growth of your tulpa.

Tbh we're never changing our terms, at least not on this site.

Maybe I'm a bit unique in this opinion, but I'm not a fan of the term 'force' when referring to working with or developing your Tulpa... It conjures images for me of forcing and imposing your will on another creature. While to some extent that is an accurate statement, especially in the early days where you're trying to manifest you will into it's own creature, the concept of 'forcing' sounds to me like shoving your desires down it's throat... Not really a pleasant image...

I think 'forge' or 'Tulpaforge' would be better terms, personally... You're working to create something.

I think the etymology behind "tulpaforcing" is that you're believing something's there that isn't and you're forcing your brain to fill in the gap. Something like that. I'm not sure if it was FAQ_man or Irish or someone else who came up with that term, but you could do some searching around to see.

Some people do use "forging", but it sounds even more silly than "forcing".
