Pleeb February 8, 2016 Share February 8, 2016 Does anyone have Fusion Network with their TV provider? There's going to be a show dealing with tulpas tonight at 10:30 EST. The owner of tulpa.io is going to be in it, though nobody knows what light they'll present us in. It won't be online for another month, but I'm really, really, hoping that somebody in the community can record it. Edit: I watched it, but I don't have permission to send out the video of it atm. However, it was really good, imo. It wasn't sensationalized and seemed like a pretty positive. They had a few authority figures on there (anthropologist that's been studying tulpas and a psychologist), both saying that tulpas aren't crazy and talking about them in a positive light. Even the host was making a note of how different KT and Isa are, and later follows up with saying "having a tulpa doesn't mean that you're schizophrenic or have a personality disorder." It certainly was dramatized but not sensationalized, mocked, made fun of, or anything like that. Spoiler An image in a signature behind a hidden tag! NoneFromHell February 8, 2016 Share February 8, 2016 "examining if a person can be a host for another identity that's not human. " Their wordchoice doesn't sound very promising. Oh well. Sock February 8, 2016 Share February 8, 2016 More accurately, it sounds like Otherkin, which is its own thing with its own set of ideas and definitions. Hopefully they don't try to combine out with the tulpa/multiplicity. Multiplicity is already tough to explain properly, add in otherkin and its various subsets and flavors and you just have a nasty tangle that's even more difficult to understand, and easier to label as madness. Sock Cottonwell's Sketchbook, Journal, and Ask thread. Peace
Luminesce February 8, 2016 Share February 8, 2016 I thought otherkin was when the person themselves identified as non-human. But anyways, http://www.locatetv.com/tv/real-future/9619529/episode-guide these are the things the show talks about, and it seems they cover two subjects per episode. So at worst we're looking at bad first impressions, but I don't think there's going to be any outright misinformation since Sam runs a community similar to ours. But we'll see. Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

If there is misinformation, it will be coming from the interviewer or editing/spin done in post. Though I wouldn't rule that out. superhelicase February 8, 2016 Share February 8, 2016 Though I have a feeling many otherkin are drawn to the tupla community.
Isatis February 8, 2016 Share February 8, 2016 Their wordchoice doesn't sound very promising. Oh well. Yeesh, I agree. We gave them some concerns and outlined them in depth during some pre-interview calls with them, but that tagline just made me look twice. I'm actually hoping they didn't take the explanation of forms way out of context. It's best to withhold judgement until after viewing though, and although there might've been areas we might've just missed completely (due to ongoing life stress at the time) I think we tried our best at giving straight facts about the community and not trying to fall into the "sensationalization" trap. -KT Isatis, KT, Audrey, Zoey - We run Tulpa.io

I'm not really concerned about the information they got, I'm concerned about their editing, because from my experience the tv people tend to take things out of context and present a wrong image about what they got. Sometimes for the sake of more popularity or controversy. Also I'm always worried about the impact resulting from media attention like this, but it is probably better to feed them information, so they don't simply make stuff up by themselves.
