Uber newb questions

Recommended Posts

Ok so I recently found out about Tulpae and they sound super damn awesome. A lot of posts on this forum have cleared up multiple questions I had except a few

1. I live with my GF and some people say Tulpae get jealous.. What would I do to prevent this and could it possibly do damage on my relationship? Because I definitely do not want that.

2. Soooooooo many people I've spoken to say creating a Tulpae is like giving yourself mild Schiz.. I know this sounds stupid and whatever, blah blah blah.. but is it? Believe me.. I know how dumb it sounds, but I understand why it could be considered to be it.. Just need to sort this question out.. >.<

3. I can't find a clear definition for what a Servitor is. So if anyone would be kind enough, define it for me :P

4. I can't seem to make my mind up on what my Tulpae would eventually look like.. I've thought of a Lion but then I wanted something smaller and I am no good at art to sketch :(.. Where did you guys get the inspiration for you Tulpas appearance?

That's all I can think of at the moment.. But being the noob I am, I'm sure I'll think of more. Please, take it easy on me lol.

Thanks.

1. If you don't make your tulpa to be a lover then there shouldn't be a problem. Unless your tulpa can get very clingy, but if you give it the right amount of attention then you can't really go wrong.

2. It is and it isn't. Schiz is a mental disorder and you have no control in the matter. While tulpaforcing is quite similar, the level of control you have makes it totally different to a disorder. You can get rid of your tulpa is you wanted.

3. A servitor is a tulpa without the sentience. They have no free will or independent desires. They usually can't move themselves unless you are controlling them. Otherwise they are just like any other tulpa. They usually can't talk or give opinions either.

4. Some of us just got an image in our heads after defining a personality. The rest of us, me included already had an idea and just moulded it from there. I started off with a human and threw out bits I didn't like. I eventually found a form that matched the personality and it's a form I like. It's still open to deviation as well.

Your Tulpa wont be jealous unless you create it to have that specific trait regarding your situation.

It may be, It may be not... But as long as you make a "sound" tulpa, you wont hurt yourself or others and therefore I cannot see the problem with it since it has done the right opposite for most people.

Servitor = A creation which has been developed through parroting (telling it what to do by thought and imagining it to do so) and therefore isn't sentient.

If you don't know how your tulpa should look yet, try to create a simple object which defines your tulpa to begin it (as if it was the soul of your tulpa). The inspiration on how it should look like will maybe appear after you've began to define it's personality

Crap, too late.

I must have ended up on the wrong planet. Everything here is so strange.

thanks :D

I definitely don't want a lover lol. How much attention is the right amount? I want my tulpa to do its own thing; its likes/hobbies but I don't want it to just exist and not ever want to talk to me or feel like I'm using it, etc.. etc.. I'm sure I'll figure it out but, did you encounter something similar?

2. I had no idea you could get rid of it! thanks for that. I understood that there was no control in having Schiz, just wasn't sure if one would be able to control a tulpa once created.

3. thanks, handy info to know :P

4. I might work on the personality bit for now :P. I'm trying to avoid a Human/Humanoid but a lot of the traits I want my Tulpa just don't seem to fit anything else :( I guess I'll have to work on that too.

Thanks again :)

1. Just talking to it as much as you would think you need to. If you feel like you aren't talking enough, then talk with it more. You can't not talk to it enough and not realise.

2. You can always dispell a tulpa, but this happens only very rarely. You don't meet many people who say they had a bes friend but then fell out with them.

3. Beware that you can make a servitor out a of a tulpa by accident. This happens when you don't do the personality well enough. A servitor can be made into a tulpa though.

4. A form will come to you eventually. The personality is top priority right now. Do about 10-20 hours on it, then move on to something else, like visualisation. The visualisation stage is finished when it's finished, but personality is never finished.

I've done a little bit of a study of schizofrenia in my high school time, it's best compared to autism; it's entirely different from anything you can cause with your mind, since it's physiological. It's part of your brain, how it works and the brain then works different than most people and your parents. The tulpa is created within the brain, you basically fool yourself that there's someone else and you try to make up for the fault of not seeing/hearing/smelling/etc it by making an image from what you know (which you teach yourself during the creation processes) and sort of interpolating what that person would do.

When you talk to your girlfriend and you can't hear her that well, you mostly can realise what she's trying to tell you right? That's the same thing, but much smaller.

Now somewhat deeper, you're not lucky you're you and not a dog for example, but you're a created conscience from your brain, realising your actions, experiences, memories and environment. Every decision, thought and realisation comes from your subconscious though, and your conscious doesn't hold anything over it. Your subconscious is basically doing the same thing for your tulpa, but instead of actually creating a seperate conscious it deciphers what would happen. Your brain is not a computer though and won't run a calculation on what might happen, it connects parts together and then your conscious (you) notices it.

About the servitor...

glitchthe3rd is different than most of us. He had an entire world in his head and thousands(?) of servitors and a bunch of craxy shit happened. He has 10 years of practice making servitors, and even then he said that he did some major messups that no one making a tulpa with the forums should experience.

It's a good story, but not one you should be concerned about happening to you.

[Note: Opinions]

Through all the time I've heard about tulpas, the schizophrenia question comes up the most, so I'll try to dispel the myth as best as I can. When people reference schizophrenia, I'm assuming most people are thinking about paranoid schizophrenia, since certain types (like catatonic) usually don't have any associated hallucinations. The main difference between a tulpa and paranoid schizophrenia is that you're able to control your tulpa. Your tulpa is a hallucination that you've created through intense concentration, while paranoid schizophrenia is completely uncontrollable.

Another large distinction is the fact that (as the name implies) paranoid schizophrenic hallucinations are almost always associated with feelings of fear and paranoia. Unless you specifically designed your tulpa to make you feel paranoia and fear, you shouldn't have any negative feelings.
