dw December 29, 2024 Share December 29, 2024 (edited) To my way of thinking, tulpas are a projection of the mind onto a sentient voice. Psychogons are different; they're reflections of archetype beings already existent in the world of imagination. I think of them as the difference between a video camera (tulpa) and a television (psychogon). With one you create what you want to see. With the other you see what has already been created. Ymmv, but i also consider connecting to tulpas to be a form of 2-way internal conversation, whereas psychogons and spirit guides (including familiars and servitors) are 2-way interface between yourself and your situational reality. I consider that tulpas speak to your mind, while psychogons and guides speak to your situation. Servitors to my way of thinking are somewhere in between. In magick there are many different psychogon and spirit guide types under many categories. I don't consider tulpas to be ANY of those things. I think tulpas are their own thing separate from what spiritualists and psychics deal with, which explains the separation on this board between straight-up tulpamancers and metaphysics wonks on this section of the board who explore tulpamancy in relation to psychic exploration. What you describe as a psychogon sounds to me like a walk in, but who is the authority of the use of such terms? I could also describe them as a fictive, or an NPC, as that too would match your definition of psychogon, I feel that we have to constantly state our own definitions of these terms in order to reinvent the wheel several times over. - Alexander On 12/29/2024 at 8:53 PM, dw said: In magick there are many different psychogon and spirit guide types under many categories. I can appreciate your stance on this, on r/Tulpas and on here, the majority do seem to be mostly or fully scientific in their approach to tulpamancy, I imagine it has to do with the idea that using science is more logical (straightforward) as well as being "real" aka provable and also because it's not tied down to it's association with the christian's magick equals evil mentally. - Alexander Edited January 8 by Seagull Today's quote Turns out I don't know how to have a normal conversion, the one were you talk about what you've done that gave you the feels. - Reina Seagull's Active member list Reina - Social and chill Zara - Silly and friendly Alexander - Thoughtful and logical No signature = Seagull - Honest and direct
