Imagionary friends in Sims 3. Can only be seen by/interact with their Sims, are born from lots of attention (to a doll, but still), cannot be controlled directly by player or Sim, and stop existing if Sim dies or stops paying attention to them.

Huh, hadn't heard of Anya's Ghost. Read a brief synopsis, and it sounds very similar to Dusk Maiden, plus or minus a few plot details. I think I'll go and check it out.

I highly recommend it. It's just a one-shot, so I'm not sure how close it could be to a series.

What about personas? Do they count as tulpa?

Chloe - That cheerful girl with ponytail.

Aigis - The male cyborg that looks like raiden in MGR.

Vixen - Half dragon female who looks like Mary in DMC3 when in human form.

That's true in persona 3. But in four, the group can only use it in tv.

I was reading through because i thought someone would bring this one up.

Afro Samurai. He has a guy in his imagination that always talks to him. Its never blatantly revealed to be in his mind, but after a bunch of episodes it becomes rather obvious. (Except this one time but that is open to interpretation and it was actually kinda deep. I don't really wanna spoil it.)

Tulpa: Ren

Stage: Imposition

Form: Unicorn

Her speech/comments dictated by square brackets. [Hi, everyone!]

I realise, that the dragons from the Eragon book series are not tulpas, but the connection between rider and dragon sounds like the connection between tulpa and host.

Currently working on first tulpa, Makai

O.k., a short list:

Classic Doctor Who has tulpas at least twice:

In the Tom Baker era, the first Sara Jane Smith story has a Buddhist monk who's assistant is a tulpa (but you don't find out about his being a tulpa until the last episode of the story).

In the last story of the Peter Davidson era, The Doctor goes to converse with a figure he calls "The Watcher", which later turns out to be a personality from within his own mind.

In new Doctor Who, it is probable that the Dream Lord is The Doctor's tulpa.

There is also this:

If anyone has seen Lars and the real girl. Bianca the love doll who he talks to could be a tulpa in his mind, and the body as a anchor to make her seem more real?
