Tulpas and cultural appropriation

Hey all, am I currently in the process of writing an essay about cultural appropriation and the Tulpamancy community. I understand this is a sensitive topic, so if moderators delete this, I fully understand. Anybody who answers will be featured in an essay, and it is completely anon.

1. Do you personally feel creating a tulpa is cultural appropriation?

2. Do you feel like the cultural appropriation community is harmful to people who wish to create a Tulpa, why or why not?

3. Do you feel that there could be a "middle ground" between the two communities? (If the answer is "yes", what solution would you purpose?)

4. Is there anything else you'd like to state?

I am not sure what "cultural appropriation" in relation to tulpamancers means? Could you please elaborate? Thanks, Dr. Bob

Cultural Appropriation as been used in the context of tulpamancy because it was originally a Buddhist thing.  Cultural Appropriation'ers are saying we should drop the practice due to it only being a Buddhist thing. The questions above where to gauge where each member stood.

Somebody also asked on Discord what the "other community" was, and it's the DID community.

The word is vaguely from Tibetan Buddhism (sprul-pa), and the rest of the practice has nothing to do with Buddhism in the science-minded community. I've never seen meta-minded communities treat tulpas like "Emanation bodies", either. The concept was lightly inspired by Tibetan Buddhism, but it's actually somewhat naturally occurring (my tulpas just sort of appeared with zero outside influence/information about "plurality" etc. and happened to match up 100% with this community when I found it) and all around unrelated to that practice. The name "Tulpa" was.. a misspelling? of sprul-pa by Alexandra David-Néel in her book "Magic and Mystery in Tibet".

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

From what little I know about Tibetan Buddhist practice, no one could mistake what we do for  Tibetan meditation practices, as even a casual read of Neel's book will make clear. If we consider the differing contextual frameworks which supported the development of a monk's, or a magician's, sprul-pa,  and ours, well, no Tibetan ever produced a pink pony!

Would the initiator of this thread please post a link to "The Cultural Appropriation Community" ?(which I have never heard of) Thank you, Dr. Bob

Yea I think it's be more like cultural appropriation of traumatic systems and what-not.

Hey there, the name's Bryan. In system Re:Body(In order of the rainbow):

Sean, Esper, Blinky, Compact, Janey, Kyle, Gwen'd, Gwen, Emily, Rollin, Waynin, Trease, Layy, Justin, Chloe, Zachery, and Elliot.

I've been here a while. Much longer than I thought I'd be. Our system was founded October 2nd, 2018. In early 2020, we decided that due to our systems exponential growth, we'd limit who would be active. Now, every month, we do a check to see who wishes to be in dormancy and who wishes to be active. Currently, for the month of April, 2023, we've got myself(Bryan), Janey(Co-host), Emily, Layy, Chloe, and Esper(sub-rep). After over 2 long years, we can finally switch :)

Bryan is currently swapped in as host, Esper is sub-rep.
